I encountered this problem two days ago. The aquastop valve is at fault – it doesn’t let the water in fast enough to start the syphon action at the beginning of each of it’s three fills. Replace the inlet valve and all will be fine.

I saw a 2009 Zanussi washer dryer two weeks ago with a short to earth on the armature. Two segments of the com were raised alot. I would imagine if the machine had been mid spin then the same would have happened to this machine also.

I’ve just renewed my public liability insurance. In the exclusion list is “any gas appliance”. Might be worth checking your policy to see if you are covered.

I’ve had two like this. It maybe dirty selector switch contacts. If it happens only on certain programs then it is probably the cause. New board or strip the switch to bits if you are feeling brave.

    Re: LG Door Slack

Looks like 4mm of play to me. Customer has never had a prob with the door or seal. The customer told me the machine had been noisy for several weeks. They carried on using it till the motor shorted the power board. Still I disconnected it for them and carried it outside so they could clean the heavily stained floor to keep them happy.

I can never understand why some people think it’s still OK to use a machine when it’s making such a racket. This customer told me they had to stop putting on at night as it was waking them up. They only sort me out when it ground to a halt! Gord

I have a call to see a WM1280FHD next week. Rusty brown marks on the floor with a noisy spin. I’ll take a look at the door on this one. 5mm is a lot of play. To be honesty I’m only going to look at if out of curiosity as the machine sounds a bit terminal. Gord

    Re: LG Door Slack

One of my customers had an LG for about 5 years till the bearings/motor went. She had LG out under twice guarantee, first time to refit the retainer and second time they replaced the seal and the retainer. I then came along each year on average to refit the retainer. I even tried debor glueing it to the frame in the end, but even upon it’s demise I noticed the seal was out of place at the top. I’ve seen other LG’s, but never this problem. I did suggest being careful when unloading as I thought it was dragged out of place when the duvet got greedy and eat all the other washing.

I have never heard of Amica before. I Looked at the Amica web site. I hope their washing “maschines” are more impressive than their spelling. Where is Amica world and is this the shape of things to come?

Re: Miele WT2670 door won’t close

A Miele engineer attended today. He replaced the door lock – no change. He then informed the customer it required a new module at a cost of £350 for the part and just under £100 labour.

I told my customer this would probably be the senario and to complain about the cost as the machine is only 3 years old. This won her a concessional sale and reduced the total price to just under £300.

I have when asked in the past which machine is the best I always used to say Miele, but over the last few years since the introduction of the new design (where the front lifts off) I have changed my mind.

I look after many Miele machines and I see alot of faults. Door glasses that slip causing leak on fill. Armatures failing after 3 years. Failing dispensers. Now a module after 3 years. I did see a topic where someone was suggesting Hotpoint was better than Miele – yes this maybe over the top, but if I were to buy a new machine tomorrow it would not be a Miele.

yer similar to the bosch ones. If the board looks OK though it will be the tubular heater behind RH side panel.

Re: Miele WT2670 door won’t close

Absolutely and definately not the door lock. Think I may refer my customer to miele as it is only 3yrs old and let them deal with trying to sell her a new module. Ta very much anyway. Gord

Have you checked the heat insulation? I have found reading less than 5mohm can cause probs.
