    Re: SMEG FME 24X Microwave

Thanks Dave and Dave for your replies.

Davecas your analysis seems to be spot on. The board does appear to have shorted between the two legs of the center microswitch. So just a local problem on the board I guess.

I don’t deal with Masterpart and a Google search didn’t offer a number for them.

    Can you or anyone help?

    Thanks again

Have you taken the door apart? It’s likely to be the pin which holds the latch mechanism together. This often works out of position and just slipping it back (with a bit of adhesive to stop it coming out again) is all that’s required.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this one? Is 1k ohm normal for a Whirlpool temperature sensor?

    Any thoughts/info much appreciated.

Re: Late zanussi washer with sealed drum

I’ve always managed to retrieve drills and screws lodged between the front of the tub and the drum by finding out where it is – a large cable tie run round between drum and tub (through the door) usually finds it. Get it to the bottom if possible, then using a large srewdriver between the tub and the rim of the drum, ease the rim of the drum away from the door opening to open up the gap. The object can usually be recovered using a ‘magnet on a stick’ or tweezers/pliers whatever fits in there.

Brutal, but with care this can be done without damaging or distorting the rim of the drum.

A new fuse on the circuit board appeared to be all that was required. Thanks to Phooey69 for your help.

Clickity clickity could maybe have been sparks (or a relay being switched). Could it be a wire shorting somewhere causing it? I often get the harness being chafed against the casing by an out of balance drum. It might explain the fault. Good luck. Graham

I’ve had a similar problem, with a Zanussi, I can’t be sure of the model number now, but a new module sorted the problem. The fault on your machine sounds identical. A quick call to EMW and Tony should be able to confirm that. Good luck. Graham

I had to give up on this one in the end. Checked the wiring, changed the fan but to no avail. Er2 won through at the end of the day.

I wasn’t prepared to pay out £214 for a new main board and sadly had to walk away. Thanks for your help on this one Vladd.

Thanks for that info Vladd. I’ll go back next week and check it out. Hope the ELIN has a big label stuck on it! I’ll report back with progress.

Thank you Martin – that did the trick. The rest was just rodent attack on the drain hose and the machine is up and running again (In English!). Graham

Not sure if this will be helpful or not. I went to a similar fault a few days ago. Sorry I’m not even sure what make of machine I looked at. But the fault sounds very similar. It was as though the mains was switching on and off as the machine was filling. Customer complained of machine switching itself on randomly.

A careful inspection of the plug which connects the mains to the control board at the front of the machine revealed what appeared to be a faulty plug. (Live would grip tag, neutral would not) I cut it off and replaced with separate tags and, fingers crossed, have heard nothing since.

    Hope this helps

    Re: Diplomat 8242 integrated dishwasher.

If it’s not too late, I suggest trying to clear the fill tube. I suspect that you will find this to be blocked. To access this quickly, you need to remove the filters inside the machine and locate a rubber flap at the back right hand side of the sump. This flap can be removed.

The tube that runs behind it connects to the fill device on the RHS of the machine. A quick fix can usually be done by pushing a long flexible cable tie into the tube (It turns through 90degrees) and giving it a thorough rodding!!! The gunge which should appear in the sump when you do this could well be the cause of your problem.

A more thorough clean if required can be achieved by removing the filling device and pulling a rag or similar through the tube.

    Good luck. Graham

Thanks Clive, I’ll go check that out. Apologies if it’s already been covered. I did search but guess I used the wrong keywords.

    I appreciate your response
