Participanterm, correct me if im wrong but does the machine have a defrost timer?
i think it does, and thats the usual culprit
the freezer working correctly would suggest over icing in the freezer, blocking the air vents
in the first instance, id defrost it for 48 hrs first (with doors open)
if it works ok when switched on, then itll be the timer stuck.. nice easy repair!

Participanthard to advise, but for most, zanussi tend to be a quality product for reasonable money
dont buy a hotpoint, loads of problems for the price they are
btw, your machine probably just needs a relay.. the dryer itself is better than any hotpoint machine you can buy these days.

ERROR CODES
Error codes is displayed at freezer display and while there is an error code “!” icon is lit on the display. Actual freezer display and error code/codes are shown in sequence.
E0 (Freezer sensor failure):
– Entry: If measured sensor value is open circuit or short circuit
– Behaviour during error: Compressor and freezer fan run continuously. Freezer bar-graph display will be off.
– Exit: If the sensor value is correct (not open or short) error is omitted.
E1 (Freezer defrost sensor failure):
– Entry: If measured sensor value is open circuit or short circuit
– Behaviour during error: Defrost heater will be switched on for 25min. during normal defrost.
– Exit: If the sensor value is correct (not open or short) error is omitted.
E3 (Fridge sensor failure):
– Entry: If measured sensor value is open circuit or short circuit
– Behaviour during error: Baffle should be opened for 3min. and closed for 7 min. Fridge bar-graph display will be off.
– Exit: If the sensor value is correct (not open or short) error is omitted.
E4 (Defrost heater failure):
– Entry: If defrost time is equal to the maximum defrost time of 60min. for 3 consecutive defrosts this error is shown.
– Behaviour during error: Control runs defrost heater normally.
– Exit: When a defrost finishes shorter than maximum time of 60min error is omitted.
E8 (Ice sensor failure):
– Entry: If measured sensor value is open circuit or short circuit
– Behaviour during error: Ice machine should not operate.
– Exit: If the sensor value is correct (not open or short) error is omitted.
E9 (Ice machine failure):
– Entry: If switch does not change as described during initialisation or, while rotating ice machine, if SW position does not change in 1 minute
– Behaviour during error: Ice machine should not operate.
– Exit: If ice-off is selected, or if during initialisation switch changes as described.
When the failure is corrected the error code will disappear on the display and control will run according to normal related algorithm.
After a power interruption, error codes should be remembered.
After an initial power-up, error codes, except heater error, should not be remembered. (Heater error should be remembered)
Error codes are cleared after a self-test.helo_75
Participantoh and the part number is 4344740285
if u decide to change it

Participantnice easy fix
its the sensor clipped to the underside of the icecube tray
if u look, the wire will be cut through
repair it if you can make it moisture tight, or change it… we just repair them, nice cheap easy repair

Participanti wouldnt have thought so, as soon as u remove a panel you become the responsible person
sorry, u need to advise they use a gas safe registered engineer
helo_75
Participantno, dont post it
you do realise that wherever or however you got it, its copyrighted manufacturer information
if you post it it will be deleted, the rules on this site are there for a reason
if your motors been ‘ticking’ you need to check the armature for lifted segments, a new motor may well be needed
good luck

Participantwhy not just help him out?
the stators gone mate, on the back of the drum, cost u around £100

Participantis it one of those awod5726 things? cos they break off for laughs
check the heaters not loose
helo_75
Participantbest way is to pull the door seal back from the font of the cabinet and look that way
always worth nipping up anywayhelo_75
Participanterm, you might wanna test the motor, or try one to see if it works
its very common fault that, theres a loose wire, or the toc is open circuit

‘hello susan – slight problem! i was a bit bored, so i dismantled my corby trouser press…i cant put it back together again.. erm, will that show up on my bill? thanks’
hilarious, still remains one of the best written comedy shows ive ever watched

Participantif u use your meter its as easy as putting the probes on the wires, and warming the back of the fridge up with a hairdryer, and see if the resistance changes
pcbs rareley cure that problem
as for the ice outside the appliance, thats more likeley just because its over running, which would suggest either the pcb is ignoring the sensor, or the sensor just isnt working
sorry for my delay in posting, i have so much to do lol
good luck
