Evening Jim,
True, but as we have both I know which is the better machine……..
All the best. 😀

When I spoke to Hotpoint they said the only way to do it “properly” is to replace the rear tub half. They didn’t like my response, needless to say it wasn’t polite. Doubt my skills will they.
It’s not a case of doubting your skills – most HP engineers will replace rear of tub because for the few quid it costs HP to make a tub, it’s worth saving the bother of knocking out the rear bearings – with all the risk assessments and H&S rubbish it brings.Indies replace bearings because the cost to us of new tubs is too high, plus the pain of storing them vs. storing a couple of bearings!
Hi Chris,
No time for todays nanny state, its pathetic. :rolls:
You are quite right though about cost, costs the Indesit Group naff all to make a rear half but costs the poor old punter a fortune, one hell of a mark up.
They tried to sell an extended warranty. So I said do you really think I need such a thing?
Hopefully I can sell the Hotpoint quickly. Just sold the Bosch! 8)
All the best,
Oliver.

Anyone have a clue as to what is done differently on the ISE10 Colour/Whites wash and the Normal wash?
The chart in the manual for 60 degree wash chart with same rinses and spin speed shows
Colour/Whites 1.40hrs 60 litres water
Normal 2.15hrs 65 litres waterNot bothered about the 5 litres but what is being done differently?

Dave supplied the bearings anyway.
It has the 35mm and has worked perfectly ever since, its for sale at the moment for £150!

But then you have only done two or three Oliver, some of the lads on here, myself included will have done literally hundreds of bearing changes. 😉
PS. Hoptoint will supply bearing kits for both the 30mm & the 35mm shaft/bearing assemblies, they do not force you to buy a drum rear half.
Evening Jim,
I did’t buy a rear half, I only got the bearing kit. Theres no point in buyimg a rear half if you ca change the bearings, it seems such a waste.
Siltal was easy, proper bearing cross on that one. 😀
Well I shouldn’t have to do Mums Miele! 😆
All the best.

I tap the new bearings in with the old bearings then finish it off with a punch on the very outer edge, but be gentle and very careful not to damage the new bearing. And this does work, done it on a Siltal and a Hotpoint WF530T, they expect you to buy a tank rear half. :rolls:
I have never frozen any bearing to get ’em in. A bit of bearing grease helps though.

Hi Reaper,
I saw one in bits quite a while ago, I don’t remember any plastic clips. Now that doesn’t mean there aren’t any as my memory could be flagging. :rolls:
I’ve never stripped a vac down the wasn’t too hard to open up (except a Daewoo cylinder jobbie 😯 ), but some do have their stupid designs to stop them being servicable. I remember the casing was quite plasticky and easy to break though. Modern day quality, don’t you just love it.
Sorry I can’t be of anymore help. 😳
All the best,
Oliver.
P.S. Nice location BTW. 😀

I have to defend ISE, this situation is not perfect, there are faults in all areas, but Vestel machines can be a b@gger to get parts for, whether branded ISE or White Knight. If the part you want is in stock, fine but if it ain’t……….

Hi Ken,
Is one to assume this is the Arcelik ISE 5 and not the Vestel ISE 5-2? I know the ISE 2 was a Vestel built machine.

Oliver.

I personally do not care about water or energy usage (neither does my Mum), I suffer badly with my skin and need a washer to do what it should properly. I am pleased the ISE offers extra options as low water use for me is a no go area.Yeah but a lot of machines are bought on the strength that people will save a fortune on their electricity bills not understanding that, actually, even a claimed 20-30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} saving is only a couple of pence a wash at best.
The detergent costs more than the electricity!!
Concerns over skin conditions and proper rinsing was a big concern for me as I’ve seen lots of people on the service side of the industry bemoaning, how can I put this nicely… machines of a lesser quality not performing as well as the customer perhaps expected.
I think that’s as polite as I can get it. 😉
Problem is, most people don’t suss it until it’s too late and, whilst we as repairers can fix them, we can’t make them better.
“Higher-water-level”:1pbap1o6 wrote:IMHO people are easily lead, I remember old machines which used a sensible amount of water and washed in a sensible amount of time got clothes far cleaner than the modern 2 hour jobs. We have had a modern Hotpoint, it took forever and didn’t wash or rinse properly and in general was a waste of £500.
Yup.
In order of popularity, the reasons for buying the machine that we got was:
Brand Reputation/Brand
Energy efficiency
PriceSo manufacturers will target having a good brand and reputation, make them as energy efficient and as cheap as possible.
People buy into it.
K.
I fully agree Ken. This is the reason I altered the Siltals pressure switch as its rinse performance was useless. Towels were completeley hard with detergent.
