Sounds like either flow meter failure or gunged up pressure chamber – either way he has now flooded the base.

Makes me think that there may be a fault in the switch mode power supply section of the circuit – may even be the SMPS chip cutting out quickly.

Also worth taking the rotor off the end of the shaft so that you can check whether the splines have stripped which can cause it to slip on the shaft.

I am not guilty of this one yet – there wasn’t much room so it was easier to take the back off to see what was going on (especially when they were so vague about the problem with the machine).

I think they intend to keep it and maybe acquire another motor from ebay – personally I am glad to get out of the dump of a place that it was in.

Thank you all for the help – it turns out that the spin motor has released its magic smoke possibly due to a dodgy start relay.

They have decided to wait till after they have moved out of their caravan before they fix it as I had the bit to get the whirlpool top loader working.

Is it filling with enough water? Check the pressure chamber on the left hand side to see if it is gunged up.

He does also have a whirlpool top loader for me to look at and seems keen to get this fixed especially if it is just belts/start cap.

Maybe he just likes it but I work on the principle that if they are willing to pay and I can get the required parts then I will fix it.

5 minutes with a soldering iron and that would be mainly taken up by the iron warming up – just make sure that you use the right value capacitor.

Try changing the large X2 class capacitor on the board.

When you say “New Motor” do you mean both stator and rotor?

    Re: Hotpoint dryer, foam seal

Hotpoint changed the rear profile of the drum on some/all of their driers, for example – the service manual for the CTD40 shows that the rear profile of the drum was changed and a 16mm rear drum seal was introduced from serial no 60606.0001 in June 2006.

    Re: dead beko DSC64W dryer

Looking at the diagram I would have to say that unless it is the door switch failing in the door closed position that it would have to be the circuit board at fault.
