    Re: Registation cards

I could do with some more 5+5 registration cards ASAP, didn’t realise my stock of them had got so low, machine number’s 44 & 45 going in tomorrow. I have a target of 50 before Christmas, not long to go, might struggle as peoples thoughts turn to the festive spending, watch this space. 8)

It is very unlikely that there will be a 30° wash on this older machine. Selecting a 40° wash with the timesaver or economy features are your best bet. Do remember that constant use of very low temperatures can lead to long term damage to the machine, discolouration of the door seal and nasty smells from inside the machine and the drain outlet.

Are you sure, fault codes for these machines are F01 to F18. 😕 In the Error Codes thread on page #4.

Could it be a WD64, they use E codes ?

What I perhaps should have said is, if you know what you are doing you do not need the conversion kit, if you don’t then you will need part number 1604976 as well.

The new FHP motor and conversion kit will do the job, try our spares link for pricing. Don’t buy from eSpares whatever you do. 😥

This is the one you need, http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/Washing+ … Motor.html

Please remove the plug at all times when your hands are inside.

If you have had a large build up of fluff inside then you need to check for further build up at regular intervals, it sounds to me as though the front drum seal has failed, this is also included in the modification kit and failure of this could lead to a scraping noise.

Have a look at this example, you can see the remnants of the front felt seal hanging down the side of the drum.

There is a chance that this will only be a temporary fix, no metal on metal at the front of this machine. Metallic scraping is almost always caused by the drum catching the back of the cabinet, hence the bearing & shaft modification kit, needed to move the drum forwards slightly.

    Re: Hotpoint VTD00

The top can be removed very easily by removing the two screws at the back of the top, it is very tight though. Removing the top will do very little to help you decide if the bearings have gone. Since this machine has a very tight stretchy belt, the incidence of bearing shaft failure has risen greatly.

There is a complete kit to replace the bearing & shaft plus seals, but it not an easy job requiring removal of the drum to complete. For legal & safety reasons, we cannot enter into blow by blow accounts of the strip down procedure.
If you remove the small cover at the back, dead centre, which will be a small metal one or a half circle plastic one, you can see the end of the drum shaft. It is easy to tell from this if the shaft has snapped.

Plug out if you intend to proceed further.

Try this very handy website, you will have seen tinyurl’s all over the place, you can use them as well. Just install the small tinyurl link into your browser then whenever you are viewing a page that you want to post a link to, click on tinyurl in the links, ( not as obvious in IE7 ) and it will copy a nice small, neat and tidy ‘tiny’ link to your clipboard. you can then paste that into e-mails, forums etc.

First the bad news, followed by more bad news, what you have is virtually a 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Indesit appliance, sadly becoming a byword for cheap, unreliable machines. You should be getting error messages via the neons on the front, they should flash if a fault is detected. If you move the control switch during a programme it will click all the way round to the position it was last set on. Do you get the mains neon flashing whilst the control is turning?

The only light on the horizon, is that as this is a Hotpoint badged machine, it is covered by a 5 year parts guarantee, if all else fails you will only have to pay Hotpoint’s modest (£90 :rolls: ) labour charge.

    Re: Has anyone used eSpares?

You only need to know one thing about eSpares, their prices are around 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} to 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} higher than they should be. 👿
99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time you would be able to buy them cheaper direct from the manufacturer. Here at UKWG’s we will almost always be able to source parts at a more reasonable price and faster than E Spares.

As a matter of interest, what was the Bosch part number and the price eSpares quoted you?

    Jim.

EDIT. You don’t need to bother , just checked on eSpares £17.08 inc delivery. Direct from Bosch part is £12.40 inc delivery. :rolls: nudge, nudge, 😉 😉 say na more.

    Re: Urgent Help Needed

Not necessarily so, that all depends on the condition/make of the second hand appliance. Also the cost of a local independant engineer would not be as excessive as a manufacturers own service. As an example, if I was to call out to remove the drum to check/replace the float switch you would be looking at a repair of well under £50.00. ( Don’t tell Martin, but it is not Berkshire round here 😉 ) The basic Creda dryer is one of the best on the market in the mid priced range. You also have to remember the one thing that I tell all my customers who glibly say, “I’ll get a second hand one”, the second hand or reconditioned ( alledgedly) machine you are buying has already been thrown out by someone else.

Far better the devil you know, repaired by a good, reliable local engineer.

    Re: Urgent Help Needed

You can only access this switch with the drum removed. It sits on top of the float chamber, the float chamber itself can become clogged with gunge causing the switch to stick. Drum out or call an engineer is the only option I’m afraid.

    Re: Urgent Help Needed

There is a float switch, very difficult to access, almost impossible without removing the drum assembly. It is just the other side of the motor, you may be able to see the wires going to it, but will be unable to reach it. Switch may have stuck or shorted across inside.

Plug out if you intend to have a poke around inside. 😉
