Very helpful, unfortunately I don’t have a Connect account. 😥

It is not really practical for a sole trader to have half a dozen suppliers. The discounts on non fast moving spares are pitiful at the best of times.

Surely there must be a Gen part number for this Steve?

I thought that would be possible Chris, but just at the moment I don’t have time to think, let alone get the soldering iron out. 😥 😥 At this very moment I am photocopying masses of documents from the hospital regarding my mother. What they have done to her is gross negligence and I am in the process of building a case to present to the legal eagles. It will do her no good at all but it is something I have to do. Still have a few unread posts and a couple of PM’s to answer, one asking for some tech info.

Believe it or not, I was repairing this Bosch machine in my dreams at 4.30 AM this morning. 🙁

Hotpoint ( Bosch) in the old days, 840 to 870 Hotpoint model range used the main heater at the end of the cycle to assist in drying. If my fading memory serves me correctly ( I did the trainig at Peterborough on these in the late 70’s 😯 ) the heater had something called ‘Inconel’ coating to allow it to operate in and out of water. Then and again, I may have just dreamt that. 😀

Went back today, could not release door lock with the red plastic doofer, had to release front panel and reach inside. Bending and twisting the interlock released it so I suspect it is just the switch which is faulty. Bad news is that the motor brushes have gone. Cannot see an end cap for this beastie 141193. 😥 Is it a complete motor job?

Having just checked the info I have, it is not date code specific 😳

The only way to tell is to look closely at the front of the drum with a side panel removed, after you have unplugged it of course. 😉

Looking from the front of the machine, if you have the pulley type drum support bearings you will be able to see two small wheels supporting the drum at about 20 past & 20 to the hour. If you have these wheels then they will almost certainly fail with regular use. They will first become very noisy, then the drum will slip off them and more than likely cause belt failure. However the modified part is not that expensive, just under £20 ex vat, jockey pulley is around £7.00 ex vat, so on balance, well worth repairing.

    Re: How embarrassing

Hi Sean, I did have a good read through the tech info when I got home, wouldn’t have looked too good in front of customer. I did spot the info on the test mode re ‘all lights flashing’, however according to the manual you can exit the test mode by simply switching the machine OFF. You don’t need to toggle through them.

Tech & spares Manual. page 16, item 12.

In fact I actually unplugged the machine for several minutes on a number of occasions but every time I switched it back on and selected spin it came up on a wash.

Re: How do dishwasher dry cycles work?

One Hotpoint slimline from a few years ago held cold water in a tank at the back which caused the moisture to condense on the the cold back panel and drain away. The water from this rear tank was used on the next wash cycle and refilled towards the end of the cycle.

One reason why the user should not open the door as soon as the machine has stopped making any noises is to allow the residual heat to work its magic.

Does the machine have an ON/OFF switch and a START switch, if so you could try holding both buttons in for a few seconds.

    Re: Hotpoint US28PX Fridge Freezer

Nothing on Partfinder matches that, sounds like a US import from Hotpoint of America. 😕

    EDIT.

Yep US production, just followed the link on Hotpoint UK’s website to Hotpoint USA.

If you follow thw links to Spares and put that GE number in it recognises it.
