    Re: al08

The error messages basically fall into two groups, those that the general public can address themselves such as, make sure the door is closed, filter cleaned, plug switched on, taps turned on etc. The other error codes will tell you to contact a service agent or supplier. That means that the fault is such that the machine needs attention from someone with technical experience. The web site or the manual will not go into details on these for several very good reasons.
If you have an AL08 code then you must contact the person responsible for the under g/tee repair of your machine. It is not something you can or should attempt to repair yourself.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct as I have had a FDW85 for 3 weeks and my dishwasher has just started flashing this code

When you say you have had it for three weeks, if that is from new and you have a fault/error message then contact your supplier/service agent, you will be covered by your g/tee.

Believe me, if I kept such a log book it would by now be as big as ‘War and Peace’ 😉 Whilst I now need varifocals and my hearing is not what it was, my memory is normally very good. The info was in there it just needed a prod to bring it out.

Still a very good suggestion all the same.

The drum spider is attached to the stainless steel inner drum and revolves with the washing inside, no bolts from the outer drum attach to the spider.

this should give you an idea of what a drum spider looks like.

    Re: Double Repair

Many moons ago when working for Hotpoint I got a call to a GEC fridge in Hadfield ( better known as Royston Vasey these days). Long row of old stone fronted terrace houses. Fridge door liner has small crack at the bottom, under g/tee repair. Ring the office and get the girls to raise an SSR ( Special Stores Request) . This is in three parts one goes in your slot on the calls rotunda, the other two parts are sent to stores, one of which is attached to the part for delivery to your garage, on the SSR are Engineer No; part details and full customer address.

The call was booked in, two weeks later and I went along to the address given, as written on the SSR. No one in but neighbour came out with a key and let me in. There in the kitchen was a GEC fridge, I changed the door liner but all the time I was doing it I thought, I can’t see anything wrong with this, but had better fit it now it has been actioned. Following day, get a call to say customer still waiting for fridge door liner. 😯

An amazing set of coincidences, the girl in the office put house number 35 instead of 37, ( where the faulty fridge was ) you know what northern folk are like, they are all good friends and bought identical fridges at the same time, and the lady from 33 let me in not knowing which one of the two had the faulty fridge. 😳

What we refer to as a SPIDER is not the pulley. The spider is a three or four legged item bolted or riveted to the inner drum with a shaft running through both bearings onto which the PULLEY is fixed.

England beat the Aussies by 9 wickets in latest one day match, despite a below par bowling performance. 😀

Steve – number staring 37— most likely please.

My money is on 37751. It is the only one called sensadry after 1996 .

I would guess it all depends on who ‘they’ are. If I fitted a part that did not cure the fault then there is no way I would charge the customer for it. Keeping the door shut and locked is vital, particularly if you have young children.
A faulty module is a very likely cause of this fault. Some independants are able to have these tested, have you had a look here

    Correct part number after 1996

Funnily enough, looking at PF I have just noticed that this machine was sold as a Sensordry in EIRE and a Sensadry in the UK. 😕

probably wrote:My machine sounded like it was full of bricks, figured it was the bearings on the drum. I’ve stripped out the drum (it took about 2 hours, no wonder people won’t pay a professional to do this)

But then it may not take a ‘professional’ 2 hours. 😉

Almost certainly 2 jockey pulleys on this machine, should always be changed as a pair, not too expensive. Why not look here
