Re: Would you file down a teardrop bearing to make it fit

Was the original bearing the teardrop shape?

If it was then I can only assume the replacement is a very poor copy, never seen a genuine one that was too big. ❓

You don’t check continuity when trying to find an earth or short circuit fault. ❓

My suggestion is the same as before, get someone who knows what they are doing to look at it.

Unless you have access to a megger or suitable multimeter and know how to use one then it is time to “get someone in”. 😉

Re: Hotpoint HVL241 won’t stop filling unless unplugged

Would it not stop filling when you pressed the on/off button? Did you try that before you removed/switched off the mains plug?

Pressure switch is very unlikely to be at fault. If you are certain that the only way to stop it was to remove the power then it can only be the main pcb that is at fault.

You won’t be interested in changing that, expensive and needs programming.

I did have one only last week that overfilled due to the thin black rubber pressure hose chafing on the inside of the cabinet. That one always stopped filling as soon as the machine was switched off with the controls on the front.

Re: Hotpoint washing machine dispenser leak

Not as bad with very recent models but a well known fault all the same. New dispenser the only cure but they seem to have stopped supplying complete ones now. you have to order each individual piece and there always seem to be at least two versions of every part. :rolls:q

Re: Hotpoint WDL540 4 light error code

Cart before the horse, why try and find out which heater is needed before you even know its faulty?

Serial number and commercial code a must, its on a small label inside the door, also may be on the back of the washer.

Re: Hotpoint WDL540 4 light error code

Have you actually tested the element electrically for continuity/resistance/insulation?

Full model, serial number and commercial code needed to identify correct element, always assuming that it is actually faulty.

The hopper cover ( dispenser top ) is a C00111095.

I have attached a screen shot so that you can select what other bits you need.
Left it quite big so that it is clear to see. AFAIK parts diagrams are available on the Indesit/Hotpoint web site. Never looked myself yet though?

Re: Hotpoint Ultima AL01 error code

    AL05 can be
Mesh plate, filter or microfilter, pressure sensor, pressure
switch, circulation motor, time of day, wind direction, an R in the month etc.

Indesit appliances are not known for their reliability and the electronics used are very flaky at the best of times.

    Re: Spam

Not sure if it is spam but noticed that Don had deleted and banned a post written in Spanish about an Alaska washing machine or lavadore.

The exact same post re appeared tonight with a different username, I have removed that one as well.

Doing a quick translation search it is something along the lines of “all the leds are lit, how do I reset, machine is like a Gorenje”.

Could it be genuine or is it dodgy?

    Jim.

Re: Hotpoint Ultima AL01 error code

The connector plug to the float switch should go on the terminals that are NO ( normally open)
If you have replaced it incorrectly then it will go into instant error before even trying to fill.

Thanks for that info Paul, it was a bit wasted on this machine as the relay had failed even before the mod was done. 🙂
