Agreed, the dryer still has traces of the original Creda design from nearly 40 years ago in it. They had the small , square rear bearing in them, later the bronze bearing but even earlier a small square plastic bearing. Wear on the plastic bearing was only seen after many years of use and was never seen on the bronze bearing. I have a 15 year old TL61 that has only needed new jockey pulleys due to noise. The rear bearing is perfect as is the belt.
The high incidence of belt and rear bearing failures only started to occur ‘after’ the ultra tight belt was fitted. Users didn’t suddenly start overloading overnight, and I fail to see how stopping the machine mid cycle will affect the belt, stats yes, very common but the belt???
Extreme overloading may contribute to belt failure but the bearing/shaft problem is entirely due to the belt tension IMHO.

ModeratorRe: TEST PROCEDURE FOR A WMUD843
I first went to Nottingham in 1969, those really where the good old days. A fantastic city for young chaps spend a few days and nights in.

ModeratorRe: TEST PROCEDURE FOR A WMUD843
I have already replied to your colleagues post, no diagnostics without company software/laptop, no specific reset other than unplugging for a few minutes. 😥
I was last at a Hotpoint training school around 1973/4,in Nottingham. Did a short dishwasher course at Peterborough around 1975/6.
Re the two accounts, best to keep questions on the same fault/machine to one thread as it can lead to multiple replies and confusion. 😉

You seem to have posted under two different usernames, it is against forum rules to have two different accounts, let us know which one you want us to delete please, this one or the Owain84 one.
Thank you.

There is no reset or diagnostics, you can turn off at the mains for a few minutes or read any error codes and unless you have an Indesit Company supplied laptop and software that is all you can do.

ModeratorRe: HOTPOINT FDL570
Jeez, I put it there over three years ago so I still had to look for it. :rolls:
If you put FDL570 in the search box when in the Error Codes thread it comes up instantly.

Anyone who bothers to take a few minutes to check in the Known Error Codes thread would be able to point you in the right direction. 😉

I have only used one in the 8 years they have been in the field and didn’t bother re ordering for that reason.
Not certain that I need one for my current ‘weird fault’ yet, different symptoms and last error of 101 and a pump change has not resolved the intermittent problem.
Will check on serial number in my records if I need to try a pressure switch. 😀

Could well be the cause of the pcb failure, usually when two wires have rubbed together though. ?
