As Dave says, it is on the inside upper edge of the plastic door opening surround, set at about 5 minutes to 12 o’clock. It is just possible to pull it GENTLY into the door space to access but you will need to cut off a small cable tie accessed from above with the top off the dryer. If you don’t remove this tie the wires will pull off the stat.

This is the stat, all you can see from inside the door opening is the small silver disc. C00279578 Tumble Dryer Front Thermostat (ukwhitegoods.co.uk)

The thing is we are talking micro fibres, not visible to the eye, you would need a massively expensive industrial filter to stop those getting through. Such a filter would clog up in very short order in a washing machine.

Not heard about any filters like that. It would be nigh on impossible to make a filter that fine that wouldn’t constantly clog up or be economically viable.

In over 45 years in the trade I never once turned any appliance that uses water upside down. In fact if a customer phoned me and told me that had done that I would politely refuse the job.

How did you change the sump hose, you didn’t tip the machine upside down by any chance?

Looks like it’s a Bosch. Is it on an outside wall, could be frozen inlet or outlet hoses.

If the stat is there the wiring is usually two black/white wires according to the TCM570/580 manual.

No, there is a small stat located in the top of the plastic surround, It is possible to replace from inside the door cavity but you need to loosen the wiring harness by cutting a couple of the cable ties to allow you to pull the stat down a couple of inches into the door cavity area. It doesn’t fail as often as the other stats but is more common than timer failure for instance. You can see the wires going down to this stat near the door switch wiring.
If you open the door and look up inside the door surround you will be able to see this small stat secured with two screws.

Plus the sneaky stat located in the very top of the white plastic drum front support frame. Access very limited and a bit of a fiddle to change.
NB. The Empty water light should not be on, it is a warning that the water reservoir needs emptying, not topping up.

Separate elements, testing the dryer element, stats and wiring first thing to do. A suitable multimeter required.

I was always an advocate of the whole show in its original guise, a Common Market. I have always been implacably opposed to a European Union of any kind, financial, political, legal or military.
My daughter is the head of Commercial and Digital law for the UK and NI at Ernst & Young. They are advising the government and large to medium businesses on the ramifications of Brexit.

She sent me a link to a webinar she gave to around 3,000 people last week and another one specifically to NI. I did manage to watch it through but by the end my brain was addled, gives a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘it’s a minefield’. 🙁
