Andy jones wrote:I’ve even been asked if my work is guaranteed after…….. A pump blockage. Doh

And I hope you answered you guarantee to charge them again if you come back and unblock the pump again!!

Honestly you will be surprised at just how many queries like this we get over the course of a year from consumers and indeed some repairers!!!!

Have a good weekend all, I am off to catch up in some Jezza Kyle I recorded during the week.

    90 days warranty

And therein is the problem. You are confusing two different points of law.

It is indeed the supply of goods and services act of 1982 which applies to the service action of a repair, and no six month period exists in that piece if legislation.

The important and critical point is the ability to limit a warranty under this act by the repairer.

This is exactly what, Indesit Group / Repaircare / 0800 Repair / Currys Knowhow use to limit the guarantee on all their chargeable repairs to just 90 days.

It is up to the consumer to obtain written evidence of any warranty offered at the point of the transactional decision to purchase the service.

In the event they do not, then the retailer can effectively offer no warranty at all if they choose, however if a written warranty is offered then it must be honoured and the retailer risks court action if they do not honour it.

It is for this reason that things like bulbs, fuses and carbon brushes amongst other things are completely excluded from any warranty we offer but motors, pumps and bearings all carry a 6 months full warranty.

In this particular case, it matters not about proving anything regarding the part, or reason for its failure, other than the written terms of any warranty Eldar offered his customer. It is clear from his own admission he did not offer his customer anything beyond his standard guarantee of 6 months, hence he has nothing to worry about.

What do you mean by no hot water?

Filling then stopping an the fault indicator suggest heater / NTC are faulty

No drain indicates pump failure or blockage

You need to investigate the basics and come back with your findings

If you want a genuine Baumatic priced one, prefix that number with XVES and pay 3 times as much.

    90 days warranty

Hello, did I not say more than 6 months in my original post, jeessssss.

And if we want to split hairs on it, Labour charges arent covered by the SoGA full stop, it’s a different area of legislation altogether, so if you wanna be a smart arse, charge a labour fee that gets you out of the sh1t.

Further, the only genuine enforcement route for a complaint under the SoGA is TS as defined in Part 8, Section 211 of the Enterprise Act of 2002, enacted 20th June 2003.

Have a guess how many SoGA complaints TS took to court in 2013, which sums up the enforceability of the act itself!

Any half trained, half sensible, half sober, law student will be able to get round the SoGA easily. Getting TS to just listen is much harder!

People who spout it like it’s some sort of god to be adorned, worshipped and scared by, without really understanding what happens in reality just get on my wick TBH. Too much Jeremy Kyle watching, not enough practical experience of the law!

Yes you should. Proper T&C’s stop all these situations from occurring.

I would phone him in the morning and advise you had spoken to his wife, whom confirmed he has the smallest penis in the world.

Then tell him your very generous offer of labour free was withdrawn and that he can go forth and copulate with himself!

No he doesn’t have a case, assuming you didn’t give him a guarantee period for 6 months or longer.

Report him to who and what proof other than your word, that your version of the call was what was actually said. I am not disputing it btw.

Never be afraid to defend your legal and correct actions in court if necessary and until he gets a judge to order something from you, then he can’t do anything to harm you.

Assuming no one gets to it quicker, I will post up in about 1/2 hour.

I presume you want a pre programmed one?

    Don

I can confirm from personal experience everything Ken has said above.

In my view he is a pure, undisputed con man, nothing more!

He came to me some years ago via the WTA asking for help as his business was going tits up.

Believing him to be a good guy, I paid his VAT bill for him to ease the pressure. I then passed him on average 6 warranty calls a day on some gas jobs I had believing him to be gas safe registered.

I paid him £50 a call at the end of each week to help with cash flow, bearing in mind I wasn’t getting paid for another 60 days. This went on for 4/5 weeks.

I then get a call from my client regarding some complaint from a customer he had attended regarding his refusal to show the customer his gas safe ID card.

Cut a long story short, he wasn’t registered, he had allowed his registration to lapse many months before.

He dropped me right in the poo!

I immediately stop passing him work, pay him in full and got my own guys to go round and check all the work he attended. A good chunk of it needed additional work doing to make it right!

Because I won’t now talk to him, I start to get the abusive emails, texts and threats of violence to both myself and my family.

I had to obtain a court injunction to force him to stop contacting me.

As you can see, he is not a nice human being.

I will not be in the same room as him, I do not want to breathe the same air as him, I don’t trust its quality once it’s passed through him!

    Indeed it could well be.

The sensor determines how fast the machine is filling and when it determines enough water is in the unit it switches off the valve.

The PCB waits for the unit to reach a suitable level as advised by the flow meter but aborts fill and goes into pump out IF the flow meter hasn’t sent the required signal within 4 minutes.

Once this occurs you get an E1 error.

You need to check the water supply to ensure supply and water pressure are upto the job. Low water pressure, kinked hose, duff water valve, duff flow meter are all causes of the problem described.

    Re: bush dishwasher

Ok integrated narrows it down to a MIDEA made unit.

E1 is too long to fill, this may well be as a result of the flow meter not recording sufficient water flow which results in pump out to prevent flooding assuming a flow meter is fitted.

If no flow meter, the pressure switch is knackered.
