    Re: Philips AKG210BV01

The part no you have given is wrong Graham, it is 1 digit short. I assume it to be 481925928617 which is the grill element for the old akg** and ach** ovens and cookers. I am sure these are still available so try with this number.

If you have no luck let me know and I will check to see if I have any in stock. It will be Monday before I can do that as I am out of the office till then and I am only down the road from you in Corby.

    Re: SatNav

Just noticed a couple of satnav systems in the Makro mail.

1st one is a Garmin Quest all in one unit which acording to the propoganda runs for 20 hours on one charge of the batteries. Small enough to fit into you pocket so looks like a good buy at £299

The second one they have is looks good. It is an Acer PDA with a bluetooth GPS reciever, car holder and a 256mb sd card with pocket pc premium edition all for £279

I dont recognise the software on either of these but I assume they will search for addresses by postcode as they have all the UK maps installed.

BTW these prices are ex vat

    Up the revolution brothers.

I will phone Brandt ( if they answer the phone ) and tell them that I am not going to send the current batch of cock ups back and politley request a credit note. I have probably got about £500 worth of spares for jobs that been exchanged whilst waiting for parts.

Will let you know how I get on.

Re: Well There We Have It!

I was speaking to Bill Hanratty in Brandt a couple of weeks ago and he told me they have an engineer in the south, one in the Midlands and also one in the north and that all they should do is supply support to new build sites but can attend normal run of the mill jobs if required.

My major pain with them is trying to get them to take spares back for appliances they have exchanged whilst I am waiting for back order spares. I am getting a bit pissed of with having to post the spares back and then invoice them for the parcelforce charges. I have did this twice in the past 6 months and have still not got the money back. They even asked me to post back a spider and drum by parcelforce and I told them where to go so they told me to dispose of them and gave me the credit.

My major problem at the moment is the lovely Samsung people. How often do you go onto their website to order 3 parts for a job and see 1 with no due date on it. I don’t order any spares for a Samsung job till I am sure that all are in stock as you can bet the appliance will be exchanged while you are waiting for the last part.

And then you get a “Vanilla” appliance. Got another one this week and it was a fridge freezer 😕 😕 Phoned Nuneaton to get it wrote off and they came back with the “phone this number for spares crap”. Had this a couple of times already and the company they gave you for spares went bust 2 years ago. So they then ask you for the original purchase price and cubic capacity( I need to remember to give my engineers a tape measure and a calculator)

You probably saw my post the other week looking for a oven switch and element for a Vanilla oven which D&G eventualy wrote off. When I looked at the customers policy it was a 1+4 new for old policy. The oven was 4 years old and cost £160 new with £50 on top for the policy, How can D&G make money from this and why did they insure it in the first place??

    Nah Chris,

There is one class of fitter that is worse than kitchen fitters. I am talking about fitters(loose term) on Barratt and Wilcon building sites.

On my patch I am sure they pull them of the street the day before they install anything. I have one in Leicestershire who always puts dishwasher decor doors on with no more nails.

I am 47 and have worn one once and that was under severe duress to go to a wedding. The whole outfit wieghs about 4 stone and before anyone asks yes I did wear it the way it was meant to be worn, very liberating.

Also very handy when you go for a pee!!!!!!!!!!

    HA, HA Ken. 😀 😀

I thought someone would say that. I have only come across one of these before and it was a scrapper because I could not get parts. D&G insisted that I repair it and I told them if parts were not available there is not a lot I can do.

The beauty of this one is that it was sold by the now defunct Tempo chain for £169 and for £40 extra the customer got a 5 year new for old policy. I thought she was winding me up till I read the policy and sure enough it is there in Black and white.

I can always go back to D&G and say that the massed ranks of UKW dont know where to find parts 😀

    Re: New Server…Soon

So who do we send the cash to this year Ken, May as well get the ball rolling early to give us all time to part with the readies.

I am sure that a lot of members do not realise what work goes on behind the scenes so I think it should be pointed out what their unpaid contribution to the site does for us all.

I propose that we all should send £10 to the fund and make it a good xmas for the hidden workers
