Re: Whirlpool Dishwasher ADG 7540/1 Strange fault

If the drain pipe is at the bottom of the standpipe causing a siphon then the machine will either open the water valve to get water to correct level or show a water leak fault code depending on the model. If the motor is coming on and off the root of the problem is the diaphram switch( as long as appliance is full of water ), easy way to to tell is to connect the spare switch you have to the cable and put a small screwdriver gently through the grid if the motor stays on it will be the switch or connecting cable.

To avoid any confusion this machine does not have an OWI. The OWI is a combined NTC and Optical sensor which usualy has a translucent plastic cover on the inside. This machine has a diaphragm switch which is the one that gunges up around the grid on the inside.

Back to the problem at hand, did this appliance have a leak perchance?

If so I would change both the diaphragm switch and the 3 wired cable connecting it to the ccu. It was a well known problem in it’s day that when water got onto these it would cause pulsing of the wash pump. If you do a resistance test on the old a new you will probably get the same reading but replacing sorts the problem.

    Now if I said,

I was only joking about the beer one…… Now if someone brought out a Jack Daniels dispenser version with a coffee maker then that would help with the hangovers.

    Would that be acceptable???

If you remove the drawer front and put appliance onto a rinse you should see a small drip running down the green liquid siphon that is slotted into front of drawer, if it is leaking you can either change the outer drawer, try cleaning the jets above the conditioner compartment or go for the easy fix which is to throw the green siphon in the bin. If you take the siphon out it will still drip but the water will run with the contour of the drawer and go back inside the dispenser body.

Haven’t saw one of these for a while, look at the small tube going from the washpump to pressure switch on the l/h side, famous for getting clogged up with gunge in the tube.

The green insert is the syphon that fits into a slot on the main drawer for liquid detergent. It is fitted in the front of the drawer for storage purposes.

As Chris says removing it will stop most leaks.

    Re: Local Authority Work

If your work brings you into contact with children or the elderly in council premises the council should have a copy of an enhanced CRB check done. They will ask you to fill out a 4 page form IIRC and return it to them. It takes about four weeks and a copy is sent to both you and the council. When I got checked the county council paid for it and I was told it cost about £40 to get done buy I will bet it will cost a lot more if you, as a business, had to pay the local council to get it done.

The silly part is that as soon as you get it done the CRB is out of date, you could beat a pensioner up the day after you get it and the council would never know!!!

    Re: Local Authority Work

I am a foster carer and got an enhanced CRB check done before I was approved by the county council. IIRC it costs about £40 to get one done, takes about 4 weeks and will tell the council if you farted in public in the last 25 years. My check brought up an offence at Wembley 26 years ago but then Scotland beat England 1-0 in that game so it was excused 😆 :scots:

I assumed everyone knew that Chris was only your stage name and that you were christened P45.

I just followed the OP link and got straight in to the site, maybe it doesn’t work in Yorkshire 😆
