    Re: dryer fire risk

it appears that if you have a condenser they will sell new one for £99. and £59 for a vented. as I drive around ive got my eyes open to see if there are any out for bin man. nice cheap new dryer for me.

my opinion is that it doesnt matter who owns them as long as they are being used in a domestic enviroment then the work should be done by the manufacturer as it is a SAFETY recall. i once bought a range rover and when i took it in for service they did over two grands worth of work free of charge because it was a safety recall that hadnt been done yet on my car.

my experience has always been that a new pcb fits and runs without any additional proceedure.

big handle on lower basket had got bent out slightly. I bent it back to normal plus a bit more and that cured one that I went to.

well with whats going on at volkswagen, i think hotpoint should think long and hard. to make a customer require a reprogramme for performing basic maintenance (filter)in a safe manner (unplugged)is bordering on criminal.

there is another post recently about broken wires in the motor plug on a hoover machine. that may explain your fault.

did this fault throw up any mysterious error codes?
thing is I had one recently showing e45 which doesn’t exist.
I ended up referring them to hoover.

thanks tim for the pointer. I also have one of these running perfectly so methinks i’ll swap motors over to see what happens. will post back the results.
