    Re: Fisher Pykel GW709AU problems

Turn power off at wall and check for fault code again. Turn power on at the wall……Wait for machine to turn off.
Press and hold wash temp. down… press power button…release both buttons…. all lights come on and then go off.(do not press advance) press spin speed up or down until slow and hold are lit.
Read fault code from RHS to LHS. ie: RH ….00110010….LH zero is off 1 is on. RHS 128…64….32….16…8….4….2…1 LHS
    Add lit LED values together.

When turning the bowl or drive shaft by hand you are generating electricity. The permanent magnets are passing the motor coils, and so the rotation will not be smooth.
The only way to check for drag would be to remove the rotor and repeat the exercise.

Pretty sure FC40 will end up being a stator problem. Check for cracks in the plastic hub and/or can you get any racking movement of the stator on its center mounts. You could try replacing the circular metal plates that clamp the stator. Yours will most likely be the earlier ones.

Inner bowl should be easy to remove.

It doesn’t take a lot of effort to check pockets before loading clothes into the machine. We have had Smart Drives for 12 years and in that time I have never had to remove rubbish from the pump.

Drain pump has a thermal overload and will disconnect power to the machine if it gets too hot.

The pump power supply is interrupted very quickly several times during draining. This is to help any lint flush through the pump. This change started on phase 5 machines.

Display board is low voltage, pretty near impossible for fault to travel from motor control module.

Are you saying you still have the wash lights flashing with either the MW or the LW board installed?

Turn the power off at the wall and wait 30 seconds. Turn power on at the wall. Wait for machine to turn itself off. Press and hold wash temperature down, press power button to enter diagnostics. at this time you should have the low water level LED lit. If it is not lit press water level down, now it should be on.
If this does not cure the problem you will most likely have to replace the display board. #426022(X) or (R)

You could try this manoeuvre. Press and hold start/pause and then press the power button. This sets the size of your machine. The processor may have lost it’s memory due to power spike.

I suspect you will have to replace the motor control module #425260 0r #425260R yours will be Blue colour.

Fault code 43, out of balance. Replace out of balance microswitch under the motor controller. Suggest you buy the sealed switch which is in kitset form part number #420313.

Forgot to mention, if you replace the lid switch make sure you push the wiring hard up under the top deck in the retainers. If wiring is allowed to hang down it will chaffe on the cabinet and blow the motor controller.

When you press the start button in diagnostic mode the spin light will flash. At this time the data recorded in the processor memory can be downloaded to a computer or Windows mobile pocket computer. (clever eh). Gives you the last 4 faults, total washes completed and user faults that do not appear in diagnostic mode.
Suggest you replace the reed switch (magnetic lid switch)
They are not expensive and quite easy to replace. Would not advise shorting it out as this could be a little dangerous for kids etc.

Re: Fisher and Paykel: Fault Code 131

If there was a problem with the RPS board it may have damaged the motor control module. Two screws on the back of the console, then lift off.
The motor control module is the lower one. yours will be a Grey colour.
Part number is 425260 or 425260X You should find a rebuilt module at a reasonable price.

The RPS is very finicky are you sure it’s positioned correctly ❓

If your sure all else is OK then I think the module is your problem.
They cant be tested in the field, you just have to eliminate all other possibilities.

MAKE SURE you disconnect the power before starting. ❗

Re: Fisher and Paykel: Fault Code 131

RPS board should only fit in the correct position. little plastic clip will locate into the slot.
With a pair of pliers gently crimp the plug to close up the contacts, they may have spread and give a poor connection to the board.
Have you fitted the wiring to the motor on the correct terminals R B Y marks are moulded into the stator plastic.
Controller may have failed or you could have a broken wire in the loom.
