You are right. The hot valve part no is 420147, but it does not affect the operation, as the valve coils (electrical part) have exactly the same resistance. The proportional part is when the valve shuts off, the hot is on or off, the cold can be gradually closed by altering the voltage to the coil.

The valve is under the WM next to the drain pump.

Strangely I have come across the same problem with an 09 WM today, and the hot valve did not work, although it said in diagnostics the valve was faulty. I suspect the motor controller is faulty, but wont know for sure until Thursday. Controller PN 426974p. 😕

You need to remove the panel that the buttons are on, then the control module under that, and you will see the switch assy. It is what you are looking at but on the other side of the plastic. 😉

In answer to your questions, yes and yes. A common problem with a simple solution, which has (so far) worked well. Glad I could help. 😉

No, your WM is a phase 5, the part no they gave you is for phase 1 – 4. Tell them the Model No and they will give you the right one. 😉

    Re: F&P GW709AU

YES. The W/M does a self check diagnostic test, and it is picking up that there is no circut through the hot valve. It does this by pulsing voltage aroung the W/M, while it looks for certain signals 😉

Press and hold wash temp up and then press power. Release and press wash temp down, The cold light only should be on. Press power to store.

Re: F&P GW709AU faulty drain pump?

The drain pump is blocked, or possibly overheating. If pump is getting very hot, replace.

Re: Beeping on Fisher and Paykel Smart Drive 608

It is probably blocked inlet filters. Remove the cold hose, there should be a filter washer in the tap end of the hose, clean this out and make sure when you put it back in the raised mesh is pointing into the tap. Check filter inside cold valve, get some pliers and pull out the filter, it comes out where the hose screws on.
If it is making a wooshing noise when filling on cold, and the water is coming in slowly, the cold valve needs replacing. 😉

Once you have a look, you will see it is straight forward. But if you dont feel confident, get a professional.
