I think Laurence’s post says it all and it’s enough said really. There is no objection to deals like this at all on UKW and that’s the reason I’ve not deleted it as a member has found it of use.

However, can I ask that anything similar is clearly marked as being an affiliate offer or something of that nature just to make it clear please?

I have stressed to Laurence that there is nothing at all to worry about over this and that, in many ways I’m actually pleased that it was offered as it clarifies the position on such messages. Any from anyone that we do not know or are posted in the public areas without authorisation will be deleted without consultation. Obvioulsy UKW is here to serve people and not to spam them with needless advertising and I have already deleted posts by some muppets trying to abuse the forums from the public side. Knowing the people here that have access to the trade forums I am pretty much sure that nothing will be offered that does not carry a benefit, hence I let this stand.

Yep, I’d be with Penguin on this one it will doubtless be the salt, detergent used and/or the quantity or quality of the rinse aid used. There is no fault, to my knowledge, with the actual appliance that can cause that.

Well it’s a new one on me and, given we fit about 200 or so houses a year with appliances I’m pretty miffed that I don’t know about it.

An insulation of any sort, I should think, would only compund the issue and airflow is the answer if it’s a heat build-up issue.

Some of the Service Force guys will know the AEG oven better than I do, but I can tell you as a Smeg agent that I’ve not yet had that error in my patch.

I have no idea what that’s all about Clive, can you elaborate a bit and tell us what machines they are as well?

Re: The Utility Warehouse Discount Club

Lawrence, that’s very close to being SPAM, so close in fact I would call it exactly that. :lesson:

And before anyone even thinks about it, don’t even mention Tiscalli and their stupid marketing scheme either. The problem for any of you guys is that I monitor almost every post on this site as well as a few mailing lists and other forums that amasses to thousands of messages a year and I’ve normally seen and erased them all before.

Whilst the link looks innocent it is in fact a direct refferers link and ID. I have no problem with that so long as you clearly state that this is the case. The text is also pre-written by the looks of it so my guess is that it’s a copy/paste job from the text that the company gave you, correct?

I’ve also looked at this company in the past and they appear to not advertise as you rightly say in the traditional sense at least, but they are not unknown for using more devious methods, like getting people to advertise for them in forums and on mailing lists.

Please do not post SPAM, genuine good deals I have no issue with at all, but I’ve seen schemes like this before and they are generally not all they are cracked up to be as instead of paying proffesionals to advertise their wares they get an unpaid internet army instead.

The Renault Trafic/Vauxhaul Whatever They Call It gets decent reviews as well and a couple of the guys on here seemed well impressed with them.

I hope it does have some effect, I hope it’s a positive move. Whilst much can be dealt with at meeetings and they can be productive you have to carry that forward and that’s where DASA has been failing for the large part. Instead of building and moving forward it has floundered for years on end, wallowing in its own self-pity. It’s time to either pull out of that or call it a day IMO.

Alex also has a point about the internal politics of DASA and that will be a tough nut to crack in all honesty. The only way I can see is to appoint a leader, in whatever capacity and define the role fully with the responsibilities clearly detailed. This may get rid of some of the personal agendas to a degree and make DASA more open.

So now it comes down to what we’re going to do with it?

    Re: Shares

Del you’re not going to upset anyone here, so just get stuck in.

Yes, you are correct but that appears to be a company policy and, had they allowed us to use the pics, then the would have had to let every other bugger use them too. I can understand the train of thought there, but the point is that we asked.

Irrespective of how we feel towards CDSL on any level they look set to become the largest WP in the industry and, so far, they’re not pissing anyone off which is a nice change. I’m not saying I trust them and I’m not saying that anyone should do so as, to me, they are an unknown at this point in time but I do trust Kev’s judgement on the matter and it is only fair and proper to give them a fair hearing. Just as we would for anyone else.

The problem with impartiality is that it can become very difficult to maintain as you’re always walking a fine line when you actually work for the people concerned as well.

I mean let’s face it, CDSL did me a huge favour unknowningly by supporting Kevin both through PKI and the NESN debacle and I won’t forget that. Anyone willing to support their agents to that degree is on the right track IMO, let’s just wait and see what shakes out the tree from here on in.

    On the subject of which…

It looks as if someone from NESN will be attending the meeting in September. Before you start throwing stuff at me it is not an entirely magnaminous gesture, I do have my reasons for this and it is largely a PR one, all will become clear in time. Suffice to say that, by attending, NESN are actually doing us a favour but perhaps not themselves one.

But yet again, the point is, we asked.

No problem if there’s a need for it, but I would have thought that it could be posted in the Trade Classified. 😉

Start a trend by prefixing with either “FS:” or “Wanted:” then it’s clear what’s what.

Yeah and we’re getting more and more call for your name to be there as it could produce good work from customers that actually want to pay you! Now those are the type I like, money on completion. 😀

There’s also a plan hatching with the Member’s Charter and the DASA COP soon. 😉

There’s a few things it could be.

Switch Assembly is £23.40, the timer is £58.46 and the door lock microswitch is £3.75.

From my experience, I have never used a door switch, very rarely replaced a timer and occasionally replaced a switch assembly on that model and the door lock assy with about the same frequency.

I have to say that the very thought and the mental picture painted is not very appealing. 😉
