KeymasterFoxy,
It’s probably a non-genuine spare and that’s why it will be cheaper. You may also find that you have to fiddle a bit to get it to fit correctly due to this, which is fine if you know what you’re about not so great if you don’t.
Dave will be able to get one a lot quicker than that as well. 😉

KeymasterCome up with a model, spec etc. and I’ll see what I can do. I have had some success with this in the past. 😉

KeymasterYou need to contact MFI, if it was installed by a builder it’s likely the supplier was actually Howdens. But it is, in effect sold by MFI and you can reach them on 08457 959722 or you can try the directories here as many of the guys do specialise in these appliances.
As to the error messages I will post them all up in the next few days, but, as I am always telling people, they only tell you where to start looking for the fault and not the specific failure.
These machines are actually okay and the most likely failure is the fill chamber being blocked, but to clear or replace that I would suggest an engineer.

KeymasterRe: Shares
Yeah I kinda figreed that they’d be interested and that will go straight back to Roy and on to the main man/men there so pretty much a result methinks.
The shop may attract a lot more attention in due course if I have my way as I’ve been doing some skulking about and intend to do a lot more. News to follow as that happens or doesn’t.
It’s interesting that Connect are taking the very mature attitude to UKW that it is and al credit to them for that as I do see a point where we will have to work with them. We’re not there yet and may well be a fair bit off, but it’s coming. But it is nice to know that they’re paying attention.

KeymasterWhat email addresses did you try as there are two accounts awaiting validation, on is gary39 using a Force 9 mail address and andyb, a btconnect one. Both show fine here and I can validate the account for you should you wish me to do so?

KeymasterThe emails are near instanteanous, we tested it just the other day and it was fine. Topic replies using the same server are fine and there has been no failed delivery reports today thus far.
There has also been several new accounts created today so it can’t be a problem with the site.
🙁

KeymasterNo, once it times out (24 hours) it’s gone for good I’m afraid. Try re-joining and if you have any hassles let me know.

KeymasterIf you didn’t get an email and click on the validation link then the account will not be registered. Are you sure you entered your email address correctly as we get a fair few returned due to typo’s. 😕

KeymasterHi Oliver,
That paricular machine is manufactured for MFI by Smeg from memory but it is exclusive to MFI, many maufacturers do that sort of thing and often customers are totally oblivious to what they are actually buying. The only manufacturer that I know of that does not buy in and rebadge appliances for certain is Meile for the UK market.
You will not be able to get a service manual for the appliance as we are not allowed to release them as a general rule and that’s if they’re available! For the vast majority of appliances it comes down to knowing what you’re doing with them and maybe a fault code list, if we’re lucky, in the trade never mind to the general public. What we do get is a composite diagram with a list of spares used, beyond that it comes down to the engineer’s diagnostic skills and experience on the product.
But with an E2 error on one of these I would very much doubt that it’s the PCB, experience tells me differently. 😉
