    Hi,

Can you give us the full model number and PNC code from the rating plate to narrow it right down for you. It shouldn’t be a problem to get you a price and availability on the part but it may be Monday when everyone gets back into their offices.

“We any closer to venues etc yet?

Yes, the venue is being sorted out and Del will be posting the details as soon as it’s a done-deal and all booked up. At which point the official invites will be done for some folks and, yes Richard I’ll send you one anyway! 😉

As for the rock pool, well we had something like that at the last meeting, complete with knickers! 😆

(It’s best not to ask about the knickers…really ;))

It should be on the rating plate, normally on the inside leading edge of the oven cavity when you drop the door down. If it’s been removed then you may well be out of luck. 🙁

Demo, is the account I use for playing with Don and checking stuff, it will disappear again soon enough. And I’ve never been listed as a mod as I’m overall site admin. 😉

No, that’s because there’s no block written to do that for the gallery and yes, it can be renamed if required.

Maybe we should ask MFI if we can have permission to reprint them on the site from the instruction manual, not the engineer definitions?

Yeah, I contemplated that the other day and decided against it. Instead I added a bit on the front page message to combat it I hope. 😉

The spares are producing some results and earning UKW a bit of income though, but we’re working on the shop again over the weekend and an SSL certificate is in hand, we need that to go live. That should change the nature of those forums slightly yet again in time.

Re: Why can’t I upload pictures?

Okay, due to the usual heroic efforts of Trevor we now have a secure Gallery on the site and I have altered the permissions to allow you to upload to that gallery washdoctor. I think you may need to download the Java plug-in for it, but you need only do that once.

Just follow the instructions on screen, any problems give me a shout.

If anyone else wants to upload pictures I need to set the permissions to do so for each user so just let me know if you want to upload something and I’ll set it up. Also if anyone has any ideas for things in the gallery, simply let me know or post the idea for opinion.

    Re: Business As Usual

Actually, Martin PM’d me a very gracious reply…

Martin wrote:I only have myself to blame for this development. My deleting those posts, Martin quits and all that stuff got many peoples backs up including yourself. Then TWR drums started beating and I was doomed, confined to being “A wanker” “tosser” “too far up his own arse” and even “a Martian”… 😆 😆

….Can’t blame them for that. All contributors to TWR have got me wrong and at first when reading those posts, I was very angry. 🙁 ………Then after a good nights sleep realised why it had all come about. 🙁

I will get them on my side one day but it will take time and a need to meet up with you and them face to face. So until them I will try and keep my head down and avoid : -……

Very true Alex, can’t argue that one! Sorry I upset you 🙁

kheath wrote: Martian has returned to cyberspace and long may he stay there

Kev I know did not mean that but it went along nicely with the general mood at the time 😆

Flipper wrote: I thought is was quiet, then realised Martins not posting, has he fallen out with UKW again

😆 Actually I went to see the Tennis at Wimbledon that day 😆 Good Lord!….Flipper noticed my absence 😆 but then Dave was quick to put him right 😆 😆 😆

I owe you guys a beer next meet OK. Oh! that reminds me, at Sibson Carol and I were already booked (by Dave) a table in the restuarant. I had no idea that everybody else was eating in the bar that night. But even then I was accused of turning my back on you guys 🙁 For Christ sake as soon as the cabaret had finished Carol and I were back in the bar with you all (till 11:30 anyway). My fault again see 😉 Should have bought more drinks for the guys and gals I guess 😉

Darned if I do, danged if I don’t, sorry chaps!

End of yet another rambling for now, but at least you listen and comment directly. I would again hope you copy and paste this pm to TWR, that way I will at least get my point across, and heaven forbid they misread this at total shite, hope not 😉

    Keep smilin’

    Martin

I think that says it all rather well.

As with Merloni, Candy/Hoover (I still question who bought who, tail wagging the dog there I think) they have managed to use and abuse the independents on at least one occasion. But that occassion was a topper and they caused a lot of hurting in the industry. Sentiments like those voiced by Alex is, to my mind, them simply reaping what they’ve sown! So now we have a situation where the two most popular (historically) brand names in the UK are distrusted by the independent trade, great job.

Without training their own neither will gain many, if any, engineers I should think with these advertising campaigns and certainly at the money on offer in this advert they can forget anyone CORGI registered looking past £16K PA! Receptionists expect that kind of money, not engineers!

I must admit I’m not going to slam the door in anyone’s face, I always make my best attempt not to do that, but if Candy do need help then it will cost them to get it. If it’s only overspill work and the stuff their own engineers can’t fix then they won’t get my services cheaply nor will they get them without assurances on workloads and that payments are made, on time. Technical information is actually supplied as well as product training instead of leaving us to take a “best guess” as they have for years.

Sadly the Italians use a different system for warranty service in Italy and other areas of the EU and it is a system that does not, cannot and will not work in the UK. I do so wish they’d figure that out and, after 30 odd years in the UK it still appears they haven’t got the message. Of course the danger is that these companies are dinosaurs when it comes to service and, we all know what happened to the dinosaurs.

Essentially, they monitor the forums for any errors, spam or double postings and that sort of thing. On some forums they will be called upon to settle disagreements or stop people getting out of order, thankfully its something we’ve never seen on UKW and I neither expect or hope never to see it either.

Other than that, people can use the mods as a point of contact for any issues they may have, technical or otherwise but the technical ones would likely get kicked back to me anyway.

With the site getting as busy as it has been it makes a lot of sense to delegate some of the responsibility of running the forums and to give people more choice in contacts. The idea is that it speeds up any of the proccesses described as the load is shared.

That’s one of the big problems we’ve encountered though, they have all been adapted from browngoods or gas boiler servicing it seems, not one has been designed from the ground up for what we actually do.

I simply have gone shopping with a wishlist of things we want to see. 😉
