KeymasterThe main oven thermostat was 818731138 that was changed to 818731179 but if your cooker was made prior to 26/10/2003 you cannot fit the later thermostat as an extension rod is needed that is obsolete and there is no solution I’m afraid.

KeymasterNo, you can connect a start cap either way, makes no odds really but there’s usually wiring on them.

KeymasterYou need access to each manufacturer’s system or their agents, or parts suppliers that have that info. It varies wildly from brand to brand.
And some, like Miele, you’ve got no hope of getting anything from.

KeymasterYup, dodgy.

KeymasterIs it on an RCD as if it is it could be just about anything that’s causing it to trip but, it’s likely worth repairing at that age.

KeymasterYou would need the PNC number of the oven for anyone to be able to look it up, they are not all the same.
And, that could be caused by a few things so unless you’re comfortable with taking the oven out and stripping it a bit as well as the use of a meter, you might be better to get a pro to repair it for you.

KeymasterIf the cooling fan stat is kaput and the oven thinks it’s too hot then the fan will run constantly and you will get errors, you’d need to check that firstly. Most of them are open and close when the heat rises.

KeymasterA leak can be anything, without investigating it’s often very hard, if possible, to tel where it’s coming from.
But, nothing defrosts in a washer dryer so, it’s not that.
You’d really have to try to see what the source of it is to fix it.

KeymasterI am afraid that if it’s a pre-2004 one very roughly that pretty much all parts will be obsolete.

KeymasterMany are obsolete now I’m afraid, you can’t get a lot of them at all any longer.

KeymasterThere’s little more risk of that than from the smart plug, I know I have used most protocol types since the days of X10, but it’s far, far more likely to have a problem with the socket, which no smart plug can help with.
And sadly, with one-shot safety thermostats used on most these days, regardless of how the machine’s cycle is stopped when operational, it can trip that and the only cure is replacement which can all too often mean a new heater unit assembly. That is done for safety reasons though I strongly disagree whith those thermostats not being available as a spare part for most now.

KeymasterI imagine the reasoning is so it doesn’t get turned off when running as that could cause damage, even one time.
But, to switch it of when not in use is probably not at all worth it, the draw of the smart plug is probably the same or greater than the dryer when it’s off so that I’d say was pretty pointless.

KeymasterIf correct, it’s probably made by this company for JLP:
But goodness knows where you’d get parts or even if you can.

KeymasterIt’s not an Ilve made one that’s for sure, I’m not quite sure what that is.
Possibly an AEG clone, there’s a few of those but sadly with no rating plate I doubt there’s a reliable way of tracking down any part for it.
