KeymasterNo, it can’t, that’s a myth.
If the unit isn’t cooling it’s not the seal that’s your problem.

KeymasterNot reliably no.
The only real cure is a new seal.

KeymasterIn most, the freezer gets the refrigerant first, then the fridge so if something goes wrong in that refrigerant system the freezer may “freeze” but not get down to temp whilst the fridge will hardly cool at all. And if that is the case, none of the solutions you are looking at are the cause of the issue and, replacing any of those parts won’t solve it.

KeymasterWhen you say the freezer is still freezing, what temperature is it at as, that’s important.
There’s freezing and then there’s actually hitting the target temperature and those are not the same things. If it doesn’t get down to -18˚C average you have a refrigerant system issue.

KeymasterNope, just tight enough to be in place is enough.
They only need to stop the drum from waggling about when in transit, they do not need to be “tight” as such.
So, I’d avoid using a drill and risking ripping the tank as if you do that, the machine is scrap or it’ll cost you a fortune to put right.

KeymasterHave fun Dave and good on you for doing that.

KeymasterI think it’s already causing issues and has been for a few months with both trade and the public as a lot of things they ought to have, they don’t.
We’ll see what shakes out but there are not a lot of people out there with the money they’ll be expecting and all the more if it’s turnover based on contracts that necessitate certain stock levels and so on.
If they have gotten shot of the buildings et all though, what’s left? A few decent website domains, some “meh” ones and not a lot else and, even to run those as is, you need their backend as it’s all tied together.
And, that’s before you know what they owe and to who.
What happens with Repaircare will be of interest to many on here I expect as I can see that getting ditched PDQ, the scuttlebutt is it doesn’t make money. Big shock I know, a service operation that can’t make anything, who’d have thought it?

KeymasterLatest I have heard, dunno if anyone knows more, it’s up for sale for sure, 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} confirmed.
All the buildings they had have been sold off apparently and they’re in a temp unit or whatever near the airport.
No idea how much is being asked, I suspect it’ll be in an NDA or such guff. And no idea if they’re trying to sell it as one large going concern of hiving it off in chunks.

KeymasterYou are correct Dave.
White Knight as it was when they made them and a bunch of other machines no longer exists, it was bought by Vestel, the factory closed, the land and all tooling sold off so, no hope of any parts now.
And also correct, they were the only company ever to make a gas dryer, though sold by others branded for a short while many years ago.

KeymasterWow that’s a turn up, even though it had been rumoured for months.
All we can do now is sit back and see what happens.

KeymasterI’d agree but it is a bit of a guess sadly and no way to prove it other that replacing parts, the remote used and it may have been changed is this one:

KeymasterDo be aware of this practise however:

And I have heard of many people waiting two weeks or more for a visit if they need one.
Miele, great… until they break.

KeymasterThat’s one of Argo’s Chinese ones so there’s no info on it but, from what you describe it does sound like a compressor issue. It overheating and cutting out, restarting when it cools off and if that’s the case it won’t be worth sorting.

KeymasterZero hope.

KeymasterThat hinge is available, ordered as needed now as it’s not a commonly used one and I think set to go obsolete.
