I agree ,I have the same three liner in the kitchen appliances section in the local paper.
It Stays in there constantly just ticking over ,customers know it’s there and refer to it when they need to .

Martin wrote:I wonder why some of you guys charge different rates between freestanding appliances and built-in? Isn’t it easier and fairer to have one fixed charge and an hourly rate?.

In my experience Built in products are seen by the customer as a premium product therefore they (the custome )are prepared to pay a premium rate .
Which is why I write of fewer built in’s than freestands on cost

Martin wrote:After all it’s often the time factor that needs to be covered not the degree of difficulty. Some seemingly ‘free-standing’ appliances can be just as difficult to access and take the same amount of time as the most awkward built-in jobs.

But on the whole freestanding machines are more straight forward.yes you get the odd one that is plumbed incorrectly or you need to treat the floor with kid gloves but that is all taken into account with the labour charge .

I think that you bring another dimension to the table Jim ,The main difference is that you bring it in a positive way rather than a condesending manner .
If we were able to make this a part magazine format we could include our experiences as little snippets running through .
That way we are inclusive of all.

Just thought, you have experience of ISE you would be amazed how many engineers just don’t get the benefits ,there’s an article straight off for you
