ParticipantRe: Qualtex discount scheme for WTA.
blimey Steve, well done with everything else that going on .
My thoughts are ..
lets talk at the meeting and work out exactly what we want ,I like the idea of them doing a flyer and also paying for it ,Masterpart are wanting to do something similar and now we have to persuade both Qualtex and Masterpart that they can both benefit from doing the same thing which could be interesting, although it has just crossed my mind that Qualtex do finished goods whereas Masterpart don’t so there is one difference we can work on already, plus the fact that this gives them both an opportunity to outflank connect .
Once we know where we are going then we can meet Qualtex and Masterpart to work out the nitty gritty re mail outs ,timings etc .
This can then all roll into a BIG September mtg as sadly we don’t have an awful lot happening at this one ,I am not being a damp squib but if qualtex were to mail there accounts with a flyer I don’t imagine an awful lot of people will be able to attend at a weeks notice .
If we keep our powder dry then give maximum effort for Sept we may get a much better response .
Hope your Son is on the mend, hopefully see you FriLawrence
ParticipantRe: New Electrolux Washer (Chinese)
Its the labour thats cheap in China not neccesarily the product ,you can get top quality from China as well as cr{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}p quality it all depends on how you spec your product and the price you are willing to pay .
Some parts are still like the wild west but you can bet a company the size of Lux will have all sorts of QC in place .Lawrence
ParticipantRe: Feb 2010 meeting
I think low key is good ,lets talk about the industry in general ,maybe Johns view on ISE ,Brian Cresswell wants to be low key but maybe we can pull him in ,and us lot on the WTA.
Hats off to Steve for the Qualtex thing ,
On another note I will bring my diary can I suggest that we actually sit down as the WTA and pencil in some dates and at some point sit down together and sort out some issues ,namely where do we go and how do we get there .
Who is doing what ,PAID ADMIN,strategy for the future, access to the website , Ken you mentioned Sept can you flesh that out a bit more does it affect WTA or is it UKW .
I will try and post more later, but am just packing up to leave a holiday ,and have a bl00dy chest infection, great timing but nothing compared to Steve .

ParticipantRe: Taking on another engineer/ VAT registration
Before you take an engineer on asses your costs by that I mean work out EXACTLY what it costs you per job to get to the door ,there is a calculator on here somewhere -in downloads I think its the best thing I ever did .
once you know that then you can work out exactly how many jobs you need your engineer to complete to cover themselves for salary ,van, stock etc before they start making you a profit ,you will also encounter the 1/2 man syndrome by that I mean you don’t just need enough work for one engineer you need enough for one and a half ,this helps you to cope when things take a slight downturn.
The trouble with turning work away is that you are giving not just that immediate call away to your competitors but also any additional appliances as well as reccomendations.
As for the VAT Take advice from your accountant or bank manager we have always been VAT registered so know no different .
hope that helps ,if you are able to get to Coventry for the meeting on the 26th there will be a few of us there only to willing to have a chat over a beer or two.

ParticipantRe: Word of Warning
I have now lost two sets of tools to scumbags ,and two sat navs, one when I ran into my own house to grab a part came out to find my drivers door open with no sat nav in the holder -no more than 2 mins ,the other was christmas 09 same thing parked locked the van ran in somewhere to pick up my kids came out 5 mins later to find the window smashed and glass everywhere ,then had to calm my daughters down as they were hysterical police were very good though .
now I am paranoid ,I use a sat safe, and take my tools of the van religously every night .Lawrence

we ditched them recently after the second attempt at making it work AND they were paying me £40 a job – which I reckoned would make up for the aggro….. it didn’t .
