    Re: wasted callouts

I keep a mental record of time wasters for at least a year or two, and add something to the bill if they call me again.

Phew! Problem resolved. Rang him again. Explained that parts would be £128.31 plus an exceptionally reasonable labour charge and he baulked.
Had been the Mrs. who had agreed to the new board! Great. I’m free of that little cloud hanging over me!

Only other thing I can think of is a short in a loom somewhere.
Trouble is, they had already given me the go-ahead to get a new module. Guess I’ll order one plus lock and test it very carefully. Perhaps put a small fuse in line to lock.

    Re: meggers

You can get round the no megger problem temporarily by disconnecting components one at a time, then re-trying the machine. So heater would be first, I should think. If the machine starts up with heater disconnected then it could be that the element has a degree of earth leakage which, whilst not critical enough to blow the trip, is sufficient to cause the electronics to complain. If it makes no difference, re-connect it and try disconnecting the circulation pump etc.
The downside with this method is that machine may not work with some things disconnected but at least the error code would probably change, so it might give you some clues.
Have a look on e-bay. There are usually some perfectly good meggers on there, secondhand and cheap which will do till you’ve got time to choose a new one. Also google “test insulation resistance” and things like that.

Re: Creda W220VW (WE) Does new drum incl pulley?

Well, she’s goin’ ahead. Just ordered it on phone from HPT 08448 225 225.
They just gave me trade price (£64 incl vat and delivery direct to customer on Friday) without any fuss about proving I’m trade. So that compares rather well with Connect’s £69.55 + vat and I ‘d have needed to add another fiver’s worth to get free delivery. Quite frankly, I’m 😯 . Might even end up making a few quid out of this job!

Also does anyone know if the pulley comes with it?

Are they no longer held on with big washers which fit over the plastic lugs?

    Re: AEG WM,not starting

I’d take a good look at the interlock to check for any signs of heating (the slightest hint of yellow near where the ptc is). Can cause expensive damage to board if not caught early.

Follow wires back up from door sw to check plug didn’t get pulled off of module during exertions of fitting new seal.

Just possible that element itself could be faulty, going open circuit when it warms up.

    Re: Bosch quality bearings!

Well, I haven’t come across any Bosch timer/modules destroyed by shorted interlock or throwing a wobbly because it’s too damp. Nor for that matter have I had to replace more than a handful of spiders. It’s brushes or filter/pump, rarely anything worse.
