Never yet seen a rep down here. Probably we’re not worth the time spent travelling.

Could it be a relay? Like on the old twin tubs / top loaders.

Definitely sounds like the sort of situation where the only way to find out is to swap parts till you get a result. How expensive would it be to swap both sensors?

Thanks for that agro, had been thinking of using Debor in the hole.
But I may have left it festering too long. Rang customer just now and she’s thinking about new 🙄 . I must have given her a too negative impression of the chances of a successful fix when I first saw the problem.
(Maybe I do need that NVQ module in customer relations). Await the judgement of husband with whom problem must be discussed again.
Good thing I got my call-out charge up front!

1. Check by looking in soap drawer that water is coming in quickly enough to fill to level a)on main wash b)on rinses.
2. Is water heating during main wash?
3.Can’t think of any others at this time of night…what am I doing here anyway?
4. Try posting up model no. & E nr. in morning to get better qualified opinions.

Thanks for that Chris, I will remember to lay the machine on it’s side.(Be careful with the lateral thinking when Martin’s around though, he might tell the sheriff 😆 ).
As for deductibles, don’t worry, even a proportion of my internet connection fees go in there and so will the 13p bolts.

Kevin, Where can I get two bolts for £3 ❓ as Seme had to make a “special enquiry” of it (= delay, delay) and Connect has them at £2.55 each.

ParticipantRe: in-line heater test?
If you take the board into a local appliance or TV repair shop I expect they’ll solder it and/or fit a new relay for you.

Got the extractors. £8 the set – this job’s getting expensive already! In a way I hope they don’t quite work so I can try out my other ideas which I’m still brewing.

Thanks Kevin.
Can you tell me where I can buy a good stud extractor? May try Halfords on my way past there this evening. Does thread lock/nutlock work well on metal to plastic?

Martin,
Your response suggests you don’t think either of those ideas would work.
Actually I get a great deal of pleasure applying my limited brain capacity to this sort of problem and if I can wind any of you up a little bit as well then that’s a bonus. 😆

Hmm. Thanks for the advice. Think I’ll sleep on it for the weekend. Inclined to try easi-outs first and if that doesn’t work am thinking along lines of Gaffer/glass re-inforced tape twice/thrice around the drum! 😯 😀

ParticipantRe: in-line heater test?
Earth leakage testing is normally done with a special meter costing hundreds of pounds.
There may be a DIY way round it. Have a look at the Haynes manual. I believe there is one for dishwashers specifically which you could buy for about £15 or ask at library.
Still might make more sense to find a competent service technician locally and ring him up.
BTW, are you certain the water’s not heating? What brought the fault to your attention?
