    Re: FLOOR DISCLAIMER

    Ditto that.

The money you make will not cover the damage you may cause, so don’t bother.

In my experience of Engineers the ones who cause the damage are usually the engineers who don’t know when to give up and will need to be dragged away kickin and screaming rather than admit defeat. ๐Ÿ˜†

A friendof mine spent nearly 15 hrs on an appliance he’d picked up from a client, he admitted he was just curious as it was an unusual fault.

In the end he only charged ยฃ30 or 50 pence and hr rather than take my advice at the beginning and right it off. :rolls:

Just inform her any further letters are to be sent direct to your solicitors and give her the address.

Keep TS in the loop, but also inform them your solicitor will deal with any legal threats etc etc.

Also inform her that you will seek reimbursement for all costs.

Usually stops the silly threats and makes TS think twice. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Re: Bosch Dishwasher SGS43A12GB/12

I did a call for a major brand yesterday, there guys been there 5 times, the client stated the longest an eng been in the house was 15 minutes.

Funny there name started with a B.

It started with an heater fault, then a leak, then by the time the guy had finished it needed new circ motor.

You’d think a company engineer was capable of fitting a hose clip properly and wet testing afterwards.

Client asked on the 4th visit why he never tried m/c after doin repair, his reason, I’ve been in the job for years and I no what I’m doing.

    Really.

I guess there more interested in getting home than keepin there jobs, then again they can always become self employed.

superfix wrote:Why bother with the test prog…. just stick it on a quickwash, the heater should come on a couple of minutes after it stops filling.

Never had an NTC fault yet.

Problem is it isn’t as the OP stated it is not heating.

You should bother because A) You’ve checked everything and not found the fault B)You can skip test straight to heat C) its the appliance monitoring the fault, so if the board states the NTC is out of range no matter how much your multimeter states its ok, the module will continue to default.

So in the test programme one of two things will happen, it’ll tell you the faulty component or it will not.

If though it tells you the NTC or heater is faulty, ignore your tests and replace the component, if it tells you nothing, then the module is rogered, but since you’ve already replaced it.

Maybe you have never had an NTC fault, that just means you’ve never had one faulty, does not mean that they don’t go faulty. :rolls:

    Re: Bosch Dishwasher SGS43A12GB/12

    You could try test program.

    Selecting the programme:
    โ€“ Switch off the appliance
โ€“ Press and hold down buttons S2 and S4
โ€“ Switch on the main switch
The following displays are indicated on the control panel:
    โ€“ LEDs L2 and L4 flash.
โ€“ For as long as the two buttons S2 and S4 are held down after the appliance has been switched on,
an identifier for the version coding is displayed following a successful overtravel contact scan.
โ€“ If one of the buttons is pressed, the associated LED lights up.
โ€“ If button S3 is pressed, the display and the refill indicator LEDs also light up.
โ€“ If the preselected starting time button is pressed, an 18h illuminates in the segment display.
    Starting the programme:
    โ€“ Press buttons S2 and S4 again.
If button S1 is pressed during alternate rinsing (WS), the water points remain in the top basket position the next time the water points change (within 60 s). LED L1 illuminates for as long as
the top basket function has been selected. Preselected starting time is not possible. The test programme is ended by switching off the appliance via the main switch.
The following fault codes can be displayed:
    Fault code
    0 There is no fault
1 Fault with the Aqua sensor system Note: Display even if there is no sensor!
    2 Heating fault
    4 Filling fault
8 Fault with the NTC system
    16 Water points
If more than one fault is identified, the fault codes are added together (e.g.: fault code 3 = fault code 1 + fault code 2)

Re: Cancellation of Contracts Made in a Consumerโ€™s Home

My take on this is if nobody in the industry understands it, ignore it.

Clients seem to be so dull even explaining the fault on an appliance seems to bring a look of utter confusion, I doubt many will be able to enforce this.

It seems only to protect people who have paid large sums in the hundreds and thousands, the type you see on Watchdog, this takes away the need to prove the tradesman is guilty.

I doubt a judge would be too impressed by a client suing you for a replacement pump you replaced on a washer costing less than ยฃ100 and they after 5 days decide to reject it for no reason other than they changed there mind.

    So don`t worry. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I always charge and always explain it when bookin and that the charge is levied once a repair price is agreed.

I don’t know anybody who works for free, I’m certainly not, I’ve learn`t that any client unwilling to pay a call out is unlikely to accept my repair charge.

Check all fans are intact, also check the condensor and filter are clear.

Enter test program and function test or record last known fault.
