Electrolux never issued a safety notice or recall on this particular fault. The ‘mod’ in question was regarded by E/lux as a ‘modification’ and nothing more. Well, as far as I’m aware that is. 😕
They did in the UK although post 2006.

I’m sure all Service Force agents are very friendly indeed, but hardly likely to provide information that would risk implicating themselves or the company they work for, would they? 😕
I don’t profess a persons thinking or intentions until I have at least met them (not much anyway 😉 ), in such a generalization it would be unwise.Of the Agents I am friendly with and therefore speak freely and knowledgeably with there is one common fact, that they would love a few peeps in Electrolux to go and find some other form of career or drop dead.

As Martin says Electrolux group are no stranger to fire issues.
Yet they still happen and they still insist on running “DATES” course, they should learn themselves how to wire a plug rather than telling Engineers how to suck eggs.
If I where ever to repair a Lux D/W I would include a smoke alarm, fire blanket and powder extinguisher in the price. 😆
As to the mod kit, when I was doing them they always had the tech info in the box, but at the time there was very little excess cable to do the rewire and many engineers work I saw did not contain the correct method. :rolls:
The modification came after several incidents causing them to over heat and catch fire, Electrolux have a history of court threats, several have gone to court, maybe worth your legal peeps to search past actions, several peeps have been sacked, DATES was introduced because many engineers where fitting spade connectors without the correct tool, choosing tools such as wire cutters to crimp, also many engineers twist the cable wire before placing into the spade, this also was a factor.
You’ll need Service force agents to be friendly to you to get correct info regarding dates, although the peeps who control the agents are, lets be polite, ignorant d88888h88s, so on the net that maybe difficult, I would try asking your local agent, in person.

ParticipantRe: Identifying where a Bosch has come from…
I called to a client, very posh arrogant type who only bought the very best, I called to his T/D not heating after a few weeks.
His Bosch T/D had the vent hose crushed and the little red button on the rear had popped out.
Yes it was a Crosslee T/D. 😆
Exactly the same appliance as the White Knight that the gentlemen would never entertain purchasing.
Didn’t like to inform him of his obvious mistake.
Just because an appliance comes from Germany does not make it better, the same design criteria applies in all the plants all around the world, many back room staff are from other countries, BSH has a major graduate program allowing staff to move world wide.
Some people seem to be lacking some basic knowledge of the world we live in.

No its a myth, Torx heads are on both Bosch and Balay products assembled in Spain.

Having worked for BSH in the Zaragoza plant some are washers, although when you approach the site you’ll need to look for the buildings with the big blue name of Balay written on almost everything except the small name plate at the front gate.
You also get bottles of red and white wine served with lunch. 😆
Most of the washers sold in the EU come out of Poland though.
As Martin states we cannot get to upset about the products, take Haier, if all the repairers who slagged them off stopped repairing Haier products I reckon a good 70{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of your calls would be dropped, including all the traditional badged products.
There is a new fridge out, US style made by Haier and bought and sold by at last count 8 major brands.
As for old appliances, yes they lasted, but the dumps still got filled, just with spares, I bet some appliances went through more waste having spares replaced than if you dumped the whole appliance, we regularly would change bearings/tubs and back plates on appliances several times through there life time, not to mention the reconditioned appliances.

ParticipantRe: How would you deal with a customer like this??
I had one of those guys recently, expert of everything, knows it all.
Noisy washer, 7 days old.He points to the rear panel which has a hole showing the pulley nut sticking out.
He asked if I wanted the instructions, to which I replied “why is there something in there you don’t understand” 😆
His mistake was when he removed the transit brackets, he’d taken the rear panel off, only when he put it back on it was the wrong way around, which meant the recess for the nut was touching, they carried on using until the nut had worn through the panel.
There complaint was of noise on spin, no sh8 Sherlock. :rolls:

You are not a public servant and therefore retain the right to do as you want, if that means he pays a callout or goes somewhere else, so be it, let him.
Although if he has the cheek to state those comments, there is a good chance he’ll agree to your terms, you call and do work and he’ll refuse to pay you.
Walk away, tell him or ignore his calls, I would, for sure.
Its silly santa season, today I finished feeling guilty because its Christmas soon and parts are not available until after or calls cannot be booked until the 5th of January, we’re that busy !!!!!!!!!!!! 😈

ParticipantRe: Most valuable find in a pump filter yet?
A guy rang me last night wanting to know how much to place a belt he bought onto his Hotpoint T/D.
I told him £45.00
He informed me I’m robbing him and having a laugh.
I guess it is down to interpretation and lets not forget that many new and old rich are in that position thanks to there interpretation of right and wrong, Lord Carnarvon’s family included.

ParticipantRe: Most valuable find in a pump filter yet?
I almost got lucky once when I pulled out a guys fridge freezer and underneath was a lot of £20 notes, the guy was next to me and said he forgot that was there then asked me to leave the kitchen for a minute.
Guess I’m not the only dishonest one in the world, but at least I’d have passed on the wealth to a good cause, similar to HMG does when they bust drug dealers and then sell the goods at auction.
Sometimes people on high horses don’t always think so well. 😉
