Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

    My pet hate happened today.

“Do you want the instruction book”.

This is before I’ve had chance to go any further than asking what is the problem.

I now always reply “Is there anything in there you don’t understand”.

Always brings on a look of puzzlement, I guess the ones that wouldn’t be puzzled don’t ask dumb questions.

Although those people tend to look puzzled when I ask for the instruction book. 😆

I think people need to learn the reality of the products being made and the failure rates, whilst some spend many hours repairing what they perceive as crap the companies producing them don’t.

One factory did a survey and in one production run over 24 hrs they where producing enough dishwashers that if placed side by side would span 5 miles, that rate was kept going for most of the yr just to keep up with demand and from the moment a m/c left the factory it was in a kitchen in Europe in less than a month.

Went to a new gas hob that was not level, fitter told client the hob is distorted. :rolls:

Took lid off, low and behold the rear of the hob has two ridges on the vertical part of the base, the gas pipe was too short, it had pulled the hob backwards leaving a 5mm gap at the front and the rear ridges sat on top of the work top.

Cut out was correct size, just the gas fitter is a bit thick. 😆

Re: You want to charge me HOW MUCH!

There is no such thing as free, that is how I justify my call out charge to clients, I also explain that many Free Call Out guys charge more for repairs, whilst I charge less, as I’m not spending all day doing calls for free, others have to make just as much money, so the calls they do for free without earning are paid for by the ones they do charge.

Makes sense then when the obvious is pointed out. :rolls:

I usually tell them that under HSE regulations the area is deemed my work place and as such I’m responsible for the safety of all near and under that regulation I’m obliged to insist all non qualified peeps remain at a distance I fell safe enough otherwise if I’m injured due to distractions or persons involved it could mean my company will seek any losses from you the client who refused to move away.

They usually think I’m a t88t, but it usually results in them leaving.

If they have a dog or kid around it works well, although one prat who’s dog was showing his teeth and growling and decided it was funny that I wanted his dog moved, me being over 6 foot tall, I did tell him that if not and the dog attempts to bit me i will not hesitate in stabbing my screwdriver into the first piece of the animal it touches.

Re: You want to charge me HOW MUCH!

I had a gas leak call today to newly installed hob.

The qualified fitter had installed a new pipe under the unit which ran for around 2 feet in length to an isolation tap, it then had a 90 degree bend the pipe ran up to the hob but bent the pipe towards the joints which where bent into a position against manufacturers instructions, all without any wall clamps to hold the pipe.

The main joint was taking all the weight of around 3 meters of pipe plus a tap and not surprising it was leaking.

Even professionals manage to make a bad job of a simply installation.

Why would they tell you, its in there interest to assume you understood the T&C’s of the contract before you signed.

Most ad companies are very good at telling you a lot of details, non of it useful and intended to make you so fed up you switch off.

I pay £5.65 a yr for my Domain and do the web design via a local web design firm or I do it myself.

Clevedon is being extended and recruitment is active in all depts, White, Brown goods and IT.

    More pressure for certain. 😥

Soon us small independants will be even more extinct.
