ParticipantRe: Golden Oldies
I can remember going to one of those early Empress’s, said she bought it 1946! I had a good look around it and couldn’t find the joints where they took the gun of the top and the tracks of the bottom 😆 bloody solid though, couldn’t do much with it as Hotpoint had made it obsolite 😥

I feel sorry for you guys who are getting involved with this gtee. work, obviously you wouldn’t do it it if there wasn’t a shilling in it 😉
As a one-man band I don’t seem to get to many nasty customers. What I have noticed over the last few years is that I occasionally get mucked about by the younger generation, you turn up to an appointment and there’s a note on the door or they are out. When they contact you again we usually hear “but your secretary said you would be here at such or such a time” 🙁 Yeah right!
I know fine well when an appointment is made and they ask for a time we suggest that it will be AM/ PM or after whatever o’clock, the trouble is they don’t listen and expect you to be there on the dot. Worst part about it is that they expect you to turn up next day, sometimes not convenient being in a rural area, oh and not to mention the 40 mile round trip 😥 Never mind the majority are a pleasure to work for 😉maltheviking

trotter wrote:I am certainly sorry to see the demise of parts centre – Sittingbourne, it is ALWAYS sad to hear people are losing there jobs.
I am also a little concerened that there will be even less competition out there. Whilst we all know how easy the connect system is to use, we cannot get away from the fact that whilst there is less competition for our business, prices are only ever likely to go in one direction!
I am sorry to hear PC are closing in Sittingbourne, I can honestly say that the their staff past and present have on the whole been excellent. I stuck with them through the bad period (take over by Wolesley) and I was rewarded by superb discount levels, which have never been matched by the likes of Connect, unless I ring them and ask them to price match 😥 Now that Connect are in bed with the likes of Indesit (http://www.4—.co.uk etc) I am sure that prices will remain inflated 😥 to the detriment of our customers.
