Dave , just an update. I was correct, the stat. phial is a different length so I fitted the correct one.

Second problem, I dont know if I am doing something wrong but I have emailed you and sent a PM, with no reply, so I presume its my fault.
You were emailing me, the service manual for a Zanussi DE6744s 91188801901 dishwasher, up to press it has not arrived, any advice please?

    Re: Crazy

It seems that things haven’t changed much over the years. I used to work for Hotpoint several years ago. The bunch of guys that worked with was a great team and would work with commitment primarily for the customer not just the company. Unfortunately this commitment was not appreciated by the management, when we pointed out that the customer came first we were told that our attitude was wrong! This was local management, what a pratt. We had a team of 16 engineers in that area, with an average of 16 years working for Hotpoint, over half left within two years.
I decided to take my services where they were appreciated and started up on my own, and took an awful lot of customers with me.
It looks as if they have not learnt

Fair point Mike, I believe the general populous don’t have to much of an interest in the environment, if you talk to the youth of today, they are quite happy just to throw out a two year old appliances, computers, mobile phones etc and buy a new one. They need educating at an early age in the home and school; unfortunately any education they get is bludgeoned out of them by the advertisers convincing them that they need the latest X BOX or PS thingy.

Have a look at this site

This is an extract from that site

    h) Sockets for home laundry appliances
may be installed underneath the work
surface but they should be fixed to the
building structure and they should be
readily accessible on removal of the

Please correct if I am wrong but are these pages not just restricted to the trade?

Martin I did say be carefull with the screwdriver trick, I may have been lucky up to press but I have done this several times without damage, or maybe luck does not come into it.!!!

Beware, lousy customer back up, informed the customers that I would be calling to do a repair, just forgot to tell me!!!! Then I stared to get customers ring me up and complaining. Did my business a bit of harm in the short term. Should have sued.

    Poor tech back up,
3 month policy to pay bills. 🙁 May have changed
I offered to set them up a nationwide service team, but they thought the Koreans 😡 would not be happy with what I was asking (£1.000,000)reasonable I thought.

Just being quoted over £95 for a 47TH21J5 oven thermostat for a Creda. Now who is taking the urine?, oh its Merloni again, what a suprise.

Last time I priced a Hotpoint T/L power unit it had gone up to RRP £440. Up £130 on the previous year. Now obsolite. My maths are pretty good, but that was a tad over inflation!!! British that is not Italian.

Carry on Merloni, you are doing a dam good job of f****g up a great customer loyalty, never mind the service industry, oh and Hotpoint

The symptoms suggest an obvious break in the power supply. I presume you have started at the begining 13 socket/plug?,then work your way through mains cable, supressor etc, finally to the board. If all ok then check the board for a dry joint etc, check the “dropper resistor” for burning or open circuit . Good luck

    Re: Foreign Objects/Zanussi Drum

If the foreign body is ferrous then try a small magnet, I have one that is on a telescopic arial (£2 onthe local market)
First you have to force a coulple of scwredrivers between the drum and drum front plate, try not to do any damage. This will give you enough of a gap to try and fish out the foreign body. If the object is not magnetic than stick a blob of “blue tack on the end of a long screwdriver and try that. I once used this trick to remove a SPOON, dont ask. If all else fails you will have to take the drum apart, good luck

I had thought about your suggestion, but I have a feeling that the phail is a bit shorter on the top oven stat.
