It amuses me when you have to charge them for writing the machine off as NE to R they think you should call for nothing 😕

squadman wrote:That said did anyone catch the topic on yesterdays Radio 2 Jeremy Vine lunchtime show ?
I could believe the guy who was fixing his own electric shower after he was getting shocks of it 😯 Jeremy kept advising him to get a pro. in to sort it and make it safe but yhe guy was having none of it 😥 the guy won’t even be able to sit and ponder in jail after he kills the wife and kids, hope she has the common sense to get it and him sorted 😉
As an extra to the title of this subject, can I suggest that we all don’t leave part no’s of parts we have fitted to appliances with the customer, it’s so easy for Joe public to go onto the internet and get a price. I am chalenging one now, I fitted a Bosch oven element just before Xmas, she rang me on the 22nd so I was under pressure to get one for her (the oven had been faulty for TWO months) I managed to get one albeit I had to pay a courier charge on a single item. Repaired the cooker on Xmas eve, it was a genuine part, and 5 quid cheaper than Bosch .
They are now contesting the price of the part because the son got onto the net and found one cheaper, she thought I was making to much money on it!!!! Chinese family with a restraunt, I asked her how much they buy and sell prawns for in their business :rolls: . Up to press I have not recieved a penny, just because I left to much info 😕 no doub’t go to the small claims 😥 where they will learn a lesson 😈maltheviking

We have all seen this squadman, I would be a bit reluctant to call them “engineers” though. 😥 What also worries me is that there are people in this trade who cannot even use a basic megger correctly!!
I remember years ago a guy who came for an iterview for a job, the guy had been doing appliance repairs for a local shop, one of the questions he was asked was “How would you ensure that an applinace was safe after a repair” his answer ” I would open the plug to see if it was OK” 😯

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Plastic pulley/belt
Hi Jim
My first thought was to change the belt but I checked it every which way and then some, absolutly perfect. Re-fitted it and checked the alignment of the belt on the pulley, motor pulley, nothing. I cannot comment on the three visits from HP and if they changed it, I am sure they must have.

what about T/D interlocks..?
I am sure some good may have come from this debate 😕 :rolls: it has brought to light a can of worms in the industry, it’s a good job it was on the trade forum and not the public, god know what they would make of it 😥
