ParticipantRe: Partscenter Friend or Foe??????
Well at last I am the proud owner of the Parts Center Domestic Appliance Genuine Spares Catalogue (which arrived in the post today).
Set out in alphabetical manufacturer listing showing part description, the models it fits, catalogue number, genuine number and if there is an alternative available, that number as well. And every part carries a photograph for easy identification. All in a handy (but thick) A5 size book 😀
At the back of the book is the conversion numbers from the old much loved Wash Vac bin numbers to the new (must have) Parts Center numbers. As well as a comprehensive index and notes section at the very back of the book.
Very useful publication I reckon 😀
Only trouble is, I would like another copy for on the van, so perhaps when you call to see me on Thursday Wayne, you could let me have another copy? 😉

Nope Greg, they’re fine and I even changed the motor end frame/brush housing to be sure the brush unit was OK. 🙁
I even tried swapping the new armature into the old motor BUT the new armature is shorter and would’nt fit. I then swapped the old brush unit onto the new motor, which worked but there was a burning smell so I abandoned that idea and gave up at that point 🙄
I wonder what the 261840 “Cable Harness” is that’s listed on the website alongside the 140867 Motor? Is that a wiring conversion harness in order to get this slightly smaller motor to work maybe???
Bosch Technical don’t know that’s for sure 😕

Thanks boro for that, but why when I plug the old motor back in it runs OK (tumbles on wash etc) but the brand new Motor won’t??

ParticipantRe: Hoover Twin Tub : pedestal bearing
On further investigation I find the ballrace bearing is a 629ZZ (Qualtex BRG02) and I have a couple on the van in fact if you don’t so PM your address if your stuck and I’ll post one?

Mick,
It’s just the ballrace bearing all you need then? They are pretty standard though I don’t know the size but its marked on the old one for sure!

Don’t write-off your machine too easily as it may be a relatively simple fix and certainly worth expert intervention I would say 😉

ParticipantRe: Moved
You can move that particular thread around all available forums if you like guys, I rather it be DELETED altogether!
On one hand we have to be clear and factual, on another, helpful and informative, yet another, relaxed and easy going and ready to share a joke or two. So does that mean the likes of our British Gas friend one funkyboogy, can FART on UKW as well as in a customers house???
………………………..Not in my book he can’t, be rid of such demeaning tripe I say 👿

Another much needed topic to discuss in the UK Whitegoods forum is it do you reckon?

ParticipantRe: Foreign Objects/Zanussi Drum
Anyone thats ever removed a Zanussi drum will know that the inner drum is extremly thin and kinks* easily. Using maltheviking‘s screwdriver tip will likely kink the front rim badly so I don’t recommend that in all honesty. Put nevertheless the inner drum front will fold in sufficiently to access the broad front lip were all the nails, screws, buckles and brooches sit.
Best to lay the machine on its back to overcome the ‘gravitational effect’ first. Instead of screwdrivers use a ‘4″ brick bolster’ and apply gentle pressure against the inner drum lip enough to access the foreign object with a magnet or wire hook etc!
* Easy now, don’t kink that drum!!!!!

ParticipantRe: Robbing Barstewards
I am seriously considering switching to Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank and have sent for an application form via their website :-
I can use my local Post Office to deposit my takings each week and draw cash over the counter 6 days a week if I want. Full Internet banking facilities of course and best of all most of this service is FREE !!! 😀
