Re: Cost of dealing with the public

I may have covered this before with you Pat but just in case, here goes.

The basics of her complaint (albeit based on a missunderstanding between the two of you) is that you took away property belonging to her AND that you didn’t return and fix it on the Saturday morning….That’s it in a nutshell, and on that basis I regret she does have a case. 🙁

There is no benefit of hindsight to be considered here as I know you rue the moment you took away her Module. (we’ve all done it mate!) That’s the crux of the her case I’m afraid. And had you charged her a nominal fee and left her with an invoice stating that work was in progress, there would be no case to answer at all!

So what can you do eh?…well your letter explains your side of the story pretty comprehensively, your explaination very laudable, logical and shows your honourable intentions. Your actions so far also have been polite, restrained and fully implemented in a very acceptable time-scale.

The facts will need to be aired by you personally in the small claims court otherwise you may risk losing the case outright. Furthermore I think you will find it unlikely that Mrs Miles attends in person on the day, and that will be a point in your favour!

If you or your company have never been summoned by the courts before, that will also be a big plus point! 🙂

I’ve read your story over and over again and I cannot see you losing, I’m not the 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} confident as your are (I’d say 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}) but the facts do speak for themselves now, so go for it, no worries mate! 😀

    Re: another joke.

Two likely lads hit the big city for a bit of fun, they stopped by a doorway with a board outside which read “Have sex with a nun!” Both concluded it worth a try, so they entered. Inside a nun welcomed them and asked if they wished to participate? “How much?” said one. “Just £10 each!” said the nun, they paid her and she told them to follow the arrows, down the corridor. At the end of the passageway another nun was there and asked if both had paid, “Yes they said” “OK said the nun, continue along this corridor and closely follow the arrows. They continued through a maze of long corridors following each arrow, finally coming to a huge door with a sign “For sex with a nun, please enter”. The door was very stiff but they both pushed with all their might, the door flung open and suddenly they found themselves outside in a carpark. The door slammed shut behind them with a thud, they turned around and read the sign on the door:-

“You’ve just been screwed by the Sisters of Mercy!”

Nope!… It’s likely that drain pump has something else stuck in it. Take a real close look using a torch, and pull out and clean the black rubber flap-valve next to the impellor too! 😉

Oh dear, well in order to avoid a judgement against you, you simply have to explain your side of the story and let them be the judge.

💡 Have you contacted your Public Liability Insurers at all? They usually have a legal framework set up to assit their members in cases like this 💡

Ah :lesson: But first Andy you need the ‘catalogue number’. Now to get that (don’t try looking on ‘identiifier’ by the way – complete waste of time 🙁 ) and (would you know it?) the answer has been staring you in the face all the while…..you simply need to :-

Microtemp usually that’s strapped to the heater box, also a flooded float chamber can cause similiar grief 🙂

    Re: Fire!

It is rare even for a Merloni/Servis module to ‘self destruct’ and catch fire, as usually outside factors cause the failure. The majority of modules these days are AC 240 volt and the fuse takes out any problem as a rule. The little black relays on them often fuse and melt but not catch fire.

Older machines like the Philips AWB080’s did catch fire sometimes when the tranny went out and burnt the casing, but never lit up the rest of the machine 😆

Did have one a few years back (turned out to be a Blomberg*, whatever the hell that is?) that when I inspected the machine for the insurance company, did appear to me to have started from the module? But as the whole machine was burnt nicely to a crisp, I couldn’t swear to it (only at it, if you catch my drift)

*What is a Blomberg anyway, I’ve only seen one black one?…Should I buy a fire extinguisher if I branch out and start fixing them?

Most likely the main circulation motor has stopped (seized thru old age or duff capacitor??) Could be costly this one to fix??

I don’t have a WMA10 wiring diagram sorry, but you may have scuppered the Module if you wired it wrong? 🙁

Where are the wires meant to go?…Door Lock perhaps?
