Well, well, well ! Sad tale Lolly but it seems to me you are far too free with your (pardon the pun) lolly. You should never have been charged for or indeed paid for, parts that did not cure the problem.
You called someone out to repair your machine, they in fact didn’t but did at least concluded what the problem really was in the end. You owed them at least to pay for their ‘call-out charge’ but nothing more than that. I reckon you have been stitched up!

ParticipantRe: Blocked drains?
I went to a Whirlpool AWM1866 a week last Tuesday, complaint: “Not emptying!” Quickly found the filter was blocked with all sorts of crud (coins, collar stiffeners, buttons etc). Checked the rest of the machine out, replaced Door Seal etc, job done!
Last night she phoned back and said a couple of days after I called, the Fridge Freezer started leaking underneath and as it was under guarantee, called out Hotpoint. The Hotpoint guy found it wasn’t the fridge but the washing machine drain pipe overflowing which was creeping under the freezer and not leaking by the washing machine. He tried to charge her £80quid call out but she smiled sweetly and gave him tea and crumpets, but when he eventually left he said to her, that she should complain to me as “I was the one that last touched it!”
Thanks Hotpoint, love you too pal!

Priceless information Gentlemen, thanks 😀
I will continue to type my inane ramblings in full though if thats Okay ❓
However you have possibly saved me £1,000’s as I have printed off the ‘Codebreaking’ information’ and withdrawn my bid on Ebay for an Enigma Machine 🙂

ParticipantRe: Hoover AB130
The fault is almost certainly the motor, they overheat pretty badly and whilst they indeed show worn out brushes, the armature has most likely given up the ghost! New motor is whats needed I expect.

Ah yes the exploding Power Micro Circuit (PMC) and those darned 1600 Timer Knobs you needed to unlock/reset by using a 2p coin!

ParticipantRe: Another Indesit timer clicking round
Turned out in this case to be due to bad module connector plug contacts. Cleaned up the pcb and teaked the pins on the connector block to make a better contact and Bingo! running again.

OK Andy,point taken but …….
What about those amongst us that retail Miele products I wonder? Do they too suffer when it comes to servicing? I suspect not, because it is all passed on to their customers anyway, with all having a share in the profits from keeping hold of them, it makes for good business tactics. In any town or city their is always a dealer specialising in ‘Top Brand’ products looking down on the likes of us!
Once a Miele customer always a Miele customer I reckon….those guys at Abingdon are laughing at this!

No-one seems to mention Miele anywhere in these forum threads? I know nothing about Miele either but suspect their products (being in fact, top priced) are therefore possibly top quality, long lasting and ultimately good value for money????
Haven’t seen any generally bad complaints about Miele products either. I am sure that there still is a market for ‘Rolls Royce’ type goods after all??
If all of the above is true, why don’t we all sing their praises, sell and fix their products and SOD THE REST?
Their must be a snag in my theory I suspect, otherwise why would we be all ranting about the likes of Hoover & Hotpoint all the time?

I bought a Hoover AC Module Tester from HT Maddocks & Son. Big piece of kit in a brown suitcase carrier. Stuck the module in the testing block then covered it with a perspex cover, hit the switch and BANG!
Oh those were fun days!

For a staggering £1,308 + VAT Hewlett Packard carry out a 3 year Computer on-site maintenance. Next day call out (Mon-Fri) includes parts & labour.
Nice work if you can get it !!

A good trick to slide machines back over that bl**dy awful cushionfloor that tears so easily, is a couple of pieces of sheet aluminium 3ft by 4inches. …just slid under the feet to clear all likely hazards 😉
