ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
You’ve just arrived at the call, she asks if I would like a cup of tea? You say “No thanks, just had one!” (your in a hurry, your concern is fixing the fault on the machine then off to the next job!)
Just at the point where you are carefully listening to hear if the pump is working on her machine…. she turns on the kettle and the noise drowns out everything for 5 minutes or more until the kettle boils and switches off!
Then you have to move your toolbox so she can get the milk out of the fridge, you then block her access to the cupboard where the teabags are kept………..and so on………after which time you wished you had said “yes” to a cup of tea all along then just sat back for 15 minutes reading the paper or maybe go in her front room and watched the telly instead !!!!

ParticipantRe: Diplomat intergrated dishwahser ADP 8132
Is this a Moben Kitchens dishwasher?
Not sure what your problem is but all dishwashers when they start a programme DRAIN FIRST (not fill) so possibly your problem is an ANTI FLOOD DEVICE problem? In other words the water level system is interupted by a blockage or leak?
Not familiar with the model number to help further…sorry!

GREAT BRITAIN DOMESTIC APPLIANCE REPAIRS LIMITED
What a super grand title for an outfit that couldn’t organise a ‘P up in a B’ yet is still held in high regard by Servis U.K. Ltd.
The blind leading the blind, or is it the other way about?…Ah well!

It was interesting to note that shane did not reply to Ken & Dave’s input on the subject? Nonetheless I am sure it will be discussed by others at next months UKW Meeting?
However, I would like to throw in my ‘4 pennuth’ (as we Yorkshiremen say!) by adding that it is a shame so many of you/us have had to resort to needing ‘Work Providers’ in the first place. Possibly brought about by been underworked and overstaffed I suspect?
Business is business and the hard reality is that in all trades there will always be someone out there wanting a share of YOUR profits. None of these MIDDLEMEN get their hands dirty but do enjoy the fruits of your labour.
Nice work if you can get it? Can I therefore suggest that when you come back in the ‘Next Life’, use your head and not your hands and become perhaps :- a Banker, Accountant, Yellow Pages Rep, Spares Wholesaler OR Work Provider!!

Oh yes we’re with you Ken!
The trick is to improve your completed call on first visit to say around 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. The up-shot of that means a larger stock holding of consumable spares per engineer. Whilst that will appear costly initially, your costs (per call) will come tumbling down.
Also, as you know most suppliers can deliver parts to you next day (hopefully) So better call filtering is required to ensure you have the likely part on the van BEFORE your guy calls on the customer.
I would say that unless you achieve at least 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} on first visit, you’re going to lose money and you will have to up your labour rates and ditch contract work!

I know what you mean Ken.
Just going off at a slight tangent here, and I am sure you will agree. We could write a book of our experiences dealing with Jo Public. I often have thought about it but no-one outside our trade would believe me as an individual. Collectively we could write a Best seller I reckon?

ParticipantRe: air locks in hot water system to washing machine
I echo estlmark’s comments christina,
On a 40 deg cycle under the most favourable situations the machine would fill with over 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} cold water anyway.
I think joining both inlet valves to a single cold supply (with a “Y” connector) your best option.
