Might be worth checking the actual outlet (outside) to make sure it’s clear and unobstructed

The main issue with Bosch is that if the compressor/gas circuit fails they’re deemed unrepairable. It was the case that the machine would be exchanged up to 10 years old but given that the current situation is going to hurt them financially I suspect that will stop and you will be stuck with an expensive dryer that no longer dries once its warranty ends

Even if they thought there were safety implications, they would never tell you for fear of the repercussions. I suspect that they won’t actually entertain you until a BSH engineer has looked at the machine but given the current situation you never know. Hope you get it sorted

Definitely worth speaking to Bosch, if it’s under 5 years old (even by a few days) they’ll usually give you a discount if not free on the parts. But as Dave says it’s not classed as essential so won’t be entertained at the moment. I’m not trying to be pedantic in any way but the motor is actually really reliable, it’s the element that’s wrapped around it that’s a piece of crap

Not in this country, I know for certain there is no recall in the UK. I have access to all safety recalls for Bosch appliances and this is not one of them.

There’s no recall, this is nearly always caused by the cable not being fully inserted when originally installed and can take a long time to actually burn out

It could be in the closed position as you say, but if the lock is working the machine should see this and unlock it or throw up an error (can’t remember what it is off the top of my head). Otherwise it’s most likely a faulty lock. I’m also unsure as to how taking the door off would cause this, I suspect there’s more to this story that we’re not getting

This model is capable of seeing the position of the lock and if the hook is engaged. If it’s not unlocking the lock as soon as you turn the machine on then the lock is faulty

the new ones are junk in comparison, so within reason its worth repairing

common fault on the new ones when it stops heating is a complete motor change, and they go a lot
heaters in yours, dont think i have ever changed one its always stats, broken wires or the solder contact

Absolutely, these ones are literally indestructible though I doubt that they deliberately designed them that way. I regularly come across these that are happily plodding on after 20 years of service. The only other thing I’ve found is that the pressure chamber and fill hose block up if they’re only ever run on a quick wash

If you feel you’re up to, take out the control module and open it up and have a look to see if there’s a dry joint on one of the solder terminals. If so a blob of solder will fix it.

When does the code come up. As soon as the machine is turned on, when you press start and close the door or just after the wash part of the program has started

If it’s a heat pump model its almost certainly worth getting an engineer to sort it, if it needs cleaning the drum has to be removed and the evaporator lifted to get underneath it. If you fractured any of the gas pipes in the process its basically a write off
