Hmm, as far as I could tell the m/c looked in mint condition. No signs of corrosion on the door seals. Even with the fridge temp controller turned as far off as it can be, the fridge is still running constant, thus freezing.
Just looked on connect, no thermisters are listed? only the pcb which would need configuring… happy days!
Might have to let this one go 🙁

Aye – Try changing the blower fan – OMG what a job!!!
I hate these machines, horrible to work on.
Also , I have been to a few where the mechanical timer makes a terrible buzzing noise intermitenly

ParticipantRe: Mains Power Cut Problem ?
i went to a classix two days ago, had a heating element down to Earth, somehow this had managed to blow one of the tracks on the PCB I repaired the failed track on PCB replaced the heater only to find when switched on the PCB lights pulse and no programe can be selected.
I was also wondering if this was in need of a reset… although I suspect the problem is bigger than that. Replacing the board is not really an option after seeing how they are priced!!!

I ended up ordering direct from hotpoint, phone call was very helpful and a lot cheaper that anywhere else i could find (not the phone call – the module :P)
Fitting was easy, two plastic covers hiding two screws, top panel slides forward. Job done.

RE : machine pauses after a few seconds / drying works.
Last error… ed4 – PCB, wiring, Drying module.
whilst perfrorming diagnostic test.. #9 dryer completed ok. all other tests show ed4.
guess that rules out the drying module. wiring? its 14 months old, looks like iits brand new.
expensive to order the pcb just in case though.
any thoughts?

Fantastic, thanks for the help.
I have often thought about re using the spider, especially if the bearings havent broken and there are no visable signs of wear where the seal rests. Have always replaced the spider, seems too big a job not to!

With regards to ZWD14270. This machine would only run the empty pump when a prog was selected…..
I accessed the diagnostics… last three err codes E12,EF1, E22. I ran the machine through the diagnostics and found only one fault in real time…. E52, motor, wiring or PCB. Took motor off, checked all relevent connectors and wiring, took brushes off, put back together, no faults found. Tried the machine and found i t working as it should with no faults.
My guess was a sticking carbon brush, or loose connection, I have a funny feeling this will not be the end of the matter though!!!

Yes indeed. I mention this service to every customer I visit now, almost every one has a son or a grandson that owns a console. money is money, work is work in my book.

I have been called to one of these before. It was leaking through the spay arm seal. Took it home so I could have a look, nothing much different to a d/w. Apart from the mist maker! a cylindrical device about a foot long. Also this machine had a syphon style pump which sucked in the detergent when needed! The company was a chineese restaurant that had inhereited the machine, trying to explain they simply placed a bucket of detergent next to the machine and drop a hose in was fun!!!
If in doubt take it to a the workshop, it’s fun learning how new things work. I think thats why i enjoy my job! If calls are quiet, I’ll try anything, I have repaired a PS3 before with no exp. Internet is the best tutor in the world 😛

ParticipantRe: Zanussi Washer Dryer ZWD 1227OS
This will be interesting…. I went to one ZWD16270W with excact same fault tuesday. worked fine on a dry prog, but flashes pause after a few seconds on any wash. I am going again tomo to perform the diagnostice, I wonder if we both find the same fault. gl
In fact, the same day i saw ZWD14270W that constantly runs pump when any wash prog is selected.

ParticipantRe: Zanussi W/D ZWD16270W faulty, running empty pump constan
ah Thanks again, I see.
Would I be correct in assuming Zanussi engineers have a piece of kit to perform the diagnosis, such as an external module? or is it a case of accessing the diagnostics contained within the machine. Either way a physical test should locate the fault, yes?
As far as i remember no heating circuits were open circuit or down to Earth.
I am going to see both these machines again tomorrow. I will further post any outcome….
And thanks again for all advice, I have had no other unsolved problems recently, I’m not giving up yet!! I guess as independant engineers, we are likely to encounter problems concerning the computer systems of new models. A way for the manufacturer to ensure they get paid for the repairs!!!

ParticipantRe: Zanussi W/D ZWD16270W faulty, running empty pump constan
Thank you both for the advice.
Concerning the m/c that went faulty whilst on a drying cycle, i shall investigate the dryer heating circuits further and try to locate/confirm the leakage.
Would I be correct in assuming that if a fault occurs on this generation of machine, the control board will realise and act ‘stuck’ in it’s last position? If this is the case, does the board always need resetting after a fault?
thanks again.
