ParticipantThank you Dave – I understand now.
The customer ensured me they filled the salt container and that after the next wash the salt refill indicator led was lit and the salt chamber virtually empty.
The stainless steel panels inside the tub are starting to get cloudy, i think.
Unfortunately, you cant get to the regeneration valve (to test voltage) whilst its’s running due to the position of it. Maybe an extension type wires and terminal would make it possible.
I live in a very hard water area and double checked that i had set the water hardness level correctly when i installed it – i did.
However the machine is only 13 months old, and integrated. So, warranty repair after all.
Thanks for the assistance again.

ParticipantThanks Dave.
I’ve had two, maybe three of these lately.
I’m a bit ignorant as to how the softening system actually functions.
Anything I can read to educate myself?
Cheers.

ParticipantThanks Electrofix.
Yes, indeed, 0049177 is the genuine part number.
Unfortunately, the inter-spares listing was unavailable – the website was never updated.
Thanks for the help all the same.

Participantplastic wrappers in pump impeller or heat pressure switch faulty…
If wash pump doesn’t generate enough pressure (or if heat pressure switch is faulty) check inlet shows, as logically it thinks it hasn’t filled.

ParticipantYes, known fault on board. Bosch engineer replaced part under warranty.
Cheers.

ParticipantThank you Kaibart. Yes – that’s exactly what I witnessed.
However, i did manage to get it working again for a week or so, by removing the motor and sensor and reassembling. Maybe that’s just a coincidence, or a power reset of the module by having it unplugged for a while.
I spoke with my customer a few minutes after composing the OP and they informed me that they had since found their proof of purchase, that the machine was under two years old and they had scheduled the Bosch engineer to visit under warranty.
The customer also said they’d let me know what the diagnosis is/was after.
Cheers.

ParticipantThis is the sensor I am asking about:

ParticipantFantastic, thank you guys, something to help when I make a third visit.
I’ll report back once attempted repair etc.
Cheers

ParticipantUltimately turns out the module was not available. Another one bites the dust.

ParticipantThank you Dave.
The F6 was caused by one of the terminals coming slightly out of the top module.
Machine then shows F2. Is empty of water and drain pump running.
Unfortunately, I managed to short the wire on top of the float switch against the element body! Rookie error, but cant believe they leave an exposed terminal there with no plastic sheathing etc.
Anyway.
Machine now shows F1. Presumably either the float switch or module has welded contacts due to the short. Expect F1 to be float switch activated. Bloody nightmare!!
Back to the F2 – this can only be caused by the pressure switch clipped onto the sump?
I thought this was only a pressure switch for the heater (like what Miele have, where wash pressure has to be present against heater pressure switch to allow element on).

ParticipantCustomer reports that the machine is working (and drying) correctly. So, who know’s what the ED8 error was all about. Possibly a poor connection, but seems unlikely as all the connections are idiot proof!
Cheers!

ParticipantAfter returning and removing the WD board, inspecting the number and putting it back together, i tried the Dryer test diagnostic cycle and no errors were triggered.
Subsequently tried a timed dry program, which the machine completed without error – rather confusing, unless there was an issue with the connections when i initially fitted, seems unlikely, but possible, i guess.
Anyway, I’ve left it with the customer who has since used the machine/drying cycle a few times without problem.
Many thanks.

ParticipantThank you Dave. I’m returning to this one this week and will update the thread when i know more.
