Does the machine actually hold water? Try filling it with water from a jug or something and see if the water drains straight out of the machine. It’s possible that the water is syphoning out.

A more likely possibility is that the air break has clogged up (usually an engineer job as it requires the machine to be opened up) or the pressure switch has failed causing faulty pressure level readings.

There’s also the possibilty that the timer has failed although my guess is it’s a blockage.

Try Repairs@ for a local engineer, or if you fancy trying to clear this yourself remember to unplug first :zap:

Re: Can anyone repair Gas appliances as long as they don’t..

Jackal wrote:Imagine this scenario. If your customer accidentally smashes the outer door glass of her gas cooker, are we seriously saying we need a CORGI registered engineer to fit a replacement?

That would seem to be the direction CORGI want to go in.

It won’t be long now before you need to pay them fees just to pass wind 🙄

I have no hesitation in telling customers that they can expect to be charged extra for the privilege of having a gas appliance as it costs us a small fortune for the privilege of working on them.

Open the door and look at the left hand side of the base. Underneath the element you’ll see the thermostat poking up from below – the reset is on the other side of that.

    Pull the plug first.

If the water is still heating from a cold fill then it’s not your reset stat.

Try a search in this forum for Smeg or Diplomat dishwasher & reset thermostat if you would like to rule it out of the equation for sure; there have been a few previous posts on this. I’m sure Penguin45 posted on this within the last few weeks.

Power off before investigating please :zap:

There’s a resettable thermostat in amongst the gubbins which may have tripped.

Since you’re filling it with hot water 😡 it’s hard to say whether the machine is still able to heat the water itself. If the stat has tripped then the machine will recognise this and display a fault code, regardless of the actual temperature of the water inside.

These machines are designed to be run off a cold water supply and heat the water internally as required during the programmes.

I made no reference to your intelligence and I certainly wasn’t trying to patronise you in any way. I was merely trying to ensure your safety from information gleaned from this site and I shall continue to do so.
We have no idea of your background and are unable to accurately judge your level of competence with electricity. As such we have to assume, as with every member of the public, that we could be encouraging you to attempt repairs for which you are not qualified with potentially fatal results.

There’s a good chance that your module (control card) has failed.

The part number should be 546013501, cost about £42 exc VAT.

On occassion we have found that the bearings have been slipping on these and replacing the module hasn’t cured the problem. We’ve had to change the drum (for the shaft) and the bearing assembly to get it spinning properly again.

For that reason I think it would be best to have an engineer check it out for you.
If the machine is still under guarantee call MFI on 08457959722, otherwise check Repairs@ for a local engineer.

Colin we are limited in what information we are allowed to give out to members of the public. We have to work with the assumption that you are not a reasonably competent person (don’t take that the wrong way, I just mean in relation to your knowledge of electrical circuits and components) and as such we cannot describe to you how to fully test your appliance in case you don’t fully understand the information given and get yourself electrocuted.
If you know an electrician you could ask him to explain continuity testing but to be honest I think you would be best calling in a professional.

Would this be the same as the 02-800473 then? I couldn’t find a picture of it under that other model number.

Mod kit of PCB & pressure switch doing the rounds depending on where it was bought from. We get at least two per week (either Diplomat or Westinghouse) that have a flooded base.

Can’t find any info on that model number in this country.
Seems popular in France at the moment, though.

Could be an import from the continental market – let us know what you find as it looks like you’re going in raw on this one.

Do a search for Smeg E3 or Diplomat E3 on this forum to see a list of common causes of this fault.
