Cookers is part of the Bernstein Group which has recently gone into administration. It comes under the Caremark range of appliances which includes White Westinghouse.

If you can give us the model number (should be in the format 02-600462 or similar) then we should be able to supply you an element from the UKW shop. Email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk

Rosieres = Candy. Depending on the shank length between the turn & the terminals it should either be this (common for many range cookers)

or this (Candy type straight off the turn)

Both available via email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk

Ask your engineer to check the door lock. The pyrolytic function will not activate until after the door has locked.

The channel should run all the way down to the compressor where any water would be collected in a tray and evaporate.

So you should be able to push you straw in as far as you can, just don’t let go 😉

That’s the stance we tend to take, but as you say it can put some people off. As much as we hate to lose a potential customer we prefer to do it that way than get burned when it all goes pear-shaped.

It’s hard enough to scrape a living from this game without fighting with disgruntled/upset customers to get them to pay for a machine that still doesn’t work.

In the cases where we do find out after fitting a part that the appliance is BER we end up taking a hit on about half of them, with the other half just covering costs if we’re lucky.

Pretty much an occupational hazard and there’s no easy answer 🙁

You’ve just got to remember that you’re a business and not a charity and claim as much of your fee as you can, or as much as you feel comfortable charging under the circumstances.

Rinse aid is a solution that makes water ‘wetter’ and causes it to run off the dishes easier thereby aiding the drying process.

It comes as a separate item if you’re using powder detergent (as most in the trade would recommend). If you use the 3-in-1 or 4-in-1 tablets then the ball (usually red) in these tablets is the rinse aid and you shouldn’t add any extra.
If you use separate rinse aid the indicator light comes on to tell you when it’s time to top it up. It’s in a compartent next to the detergent/tablet compartment and should have a little round viewing window for you to check the level.

The sun and arrow lights are, respectively, the low rinse aid and low salt indicator lights telling you that you are low on these commodities.

The ‘PC’ display is an error code but it should be in the format of E6 or similar (E1-E9).
E6 is the code for not draining; it’s possible that there is a display fault with your control board.

As for the machine not draining there’s probably a blockage either in the pump (probably a job for an engineer – check Repairs@) or in the sump – check your filter and the filter housing. There’s a little round black rubber flap at the back of the sump. Lift this up and give the channel behind it a good clean with a pipe-cleaner or similar. They’re known to clog up after a while.
Watch out for broken glass as well. It wouldn’t be the first time a glass had smashed in a dishwasher and blocked the sump. You usually feel it before you see it.

Re: CDA Oven – Any views?

CDA provide a 5 year parts warranty for all their appliances and we’ve always found their after sales to be friendly & efficient. That’s just for us, though; someone else may have a different experience.

We’ve not seen too many genuine faults with the CD708 in our area – most faults we’ve attended for this machine relate to poor installation or transit damage.

It’s always very hard to give advice on what to buy (unless you’re Don) because anything can break regardless of the cost or brand name. Even billion dollar space shuttles can have bits fall off.

    Forgot to add:

Check that the spray arms aren’t blocked. They detach easily for cleaning – run them under a tap and give them a little slap.
