Check filter for obstructions, then drain pump for function. If machine continues to wash throughout cycle without peforming the drain function correctly, the exact symptons you have described can occur.

Re: Powder vs Liquid vs Tablets?

Powder has always been my personal favourite. Total control of the dose, bleach incorporated and you’re not paying for any gimmicks.

Tablets are a fixed dose regardless of water hardness and soil level. Most don’t dissolve in the drawer leading to water back up problems (dribbles down the front, puddles on the floor). So, no control.

Liquids contain no bleach, so your whites long term won’t be bright white. However, you do have control of the dose.

Best for the machine? A bio powder regularly, a good boil wash empty once a month will keep the machine fresh and prevent excessive build-up of the bacterialogical sludge.

Always remeber that the manufacturers want you to buy soap, so a little discretion on dosage may save you a few bob.

Re: Which Bosch to go for?

These are both fully digital machines, regardless of the knob – it is purely a selector switch. Apart from that they are mechanically identical, so look at the programme options available between the two and take the one which suits your likely needs best.

They are both decent quality appliances, 2 year guarantee is nice and shows confidence from the manufacturer, so take your pick.

Qtex ELE6254 – the studs have screw threads which undo easily allowing use in different machines.

Interesting how this is developing – I fit these elements quite regularly and have had no problems.

    Re: Public Information

Thing is, if we don’t offer advice, there are plenty of other online sites that will; and of the ones that I have been refered to by UKW posters, none offer anything like the balance or safety protocols that we offer. I don’t have a problem with people clearing their own pumps, or fitting service parts. Anyone who is reasonably physically fit and has a logical mind should be perfectly capable of doing these tasks safely for themselves and good luck to them.

The Mods have discussed the fridge bypass problem and decided that there are numerous threads going back over the last 2 years – we can’t remember them all, we can’t find them all anyway and in keeping with the ethos which the site has espoused from the begining, why should we delete them anyway? The information is arrived at safely and IIRC, generally by the Public themselves – although technical advice as to the why has been given by us.

    It’s an evolution thing…..

This comes round every 5/6 months, we have a chat about it and we all blunder forwards as usual. It is worth noting that out of 700 odd trade members, its the same 15 who deal with the public queries on a regular basis. I’m getting to the stage that, quite honestly, if the rest of you don’t like it, don’t look. Also bear in mind that the Public forums generate income for the site by spares sales.

Since this became a Public site as well as a Trade one this position was inevitable. We can go private again and the sites rankings will plummet, or we can just get on with it and accept that a few of us aren’t terribly happy.

Oh, I could do with some help in the Oz forum, as it seems to be just me these days. And it generates nothing for UKW – just some goodwill. Personally, I think that’s one of the finest things that we do.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

I see…. A “Pune” or play on words (or even names). I think the operative word in your post was “was”….

Obviously I must be slightly younger than you. 😀 😀
