ParticipantRe: Fisher & Paykel – gw708U won’t fill with water
A right hatful. As far as I can work out you have a problem with the water level control system and possibly with the control board. Can’t really be more specific I’m afraid.
Time for pro help perhaps?

Just stop a minute. We’ve had marketing wonks working on the placement of this product long term and lost a month on the launch date – do you honestly think that a bunch if hairy-arsed engineers like us can do any better? Especially if our best bloody shot is going to be Penguins….. It could be worse, I suppose we could be doing goats.
Oh, and I wouldn’t be seen dead in a pair of shades like those.

Wot?
Coupled to sink, pump motor gets knackered, spider gives way – drum saws through tub front. Eee, it’s just like an old 17 series Creda. Except I’m going to have to take the tank out. It’s only 15 months old………

White thing in kitchen. Negotiation may be a good idea – Mrs can be rather possessive.

This is the size switch error problem. The memory needs to be reset to recognise the new board by entering and exiting the Option Adjustment mode. Push and hold Start/Pause, then push Power.

ParticipantRe: F&P 501 Fault – Spin Light On
Did it “beep” as well as lighting up the spin light? If so, this should indicate an out of balance condition which you should be able to reset. If this is completely random and will not go away it does rather point at the computer. Time for pro help? Sounds a tricky one to diagnose properly.

Seems to me that we should all charge more to work on these b****y electronics. Not sure I follow the logic of that Mike. In many ways, fault finding is simpler on these beasties. Do all the components meter out? Are they attached to the computer? Yes? All that’s left is the computer…… Easy peasy.

Right, so you are getting power into the appliance – this does all rather point to the computer side of things. The display not powering up is a fairly classic sympton.
Given that this is an expensive component and it is entirely possible that it has failed due to a further component problem, I would seriously suggest getting some pro help. This is a technically complex machine and parts are not particularly cheap, so this may well be the best way of “getting it right”.
Check repairs@ or Directories for a UKW repairer in your area.
Power off if investigating further.Regards,

There appears to be a reasonable selection of spares still available for this machine; however, you need to elaborate as to what it is you actually require. I assume this is something to do with the top basket rail supports?

If you’ve got a CESET 1000 spin motor, the coil tap for half field is there anyway – just run the wire in.

Are you getting any lights/display at all, or is it actually dead?

ParticipantRe: F&P SmartDrive GW603 Washing Machine Slow Water Fill
Hi Rot0r,
There are two types of water valve on your appliance. The hot water valve is a non-proportional type, ie when energised it is fully open and allows water into the machine based on the household pressure. The cold water valve is a proportional type, ie it can adjust the flow of water into the machine. During fill for wash, if the hot flow is slow it is likely that the cold flow will be slow as the machine is trying to achieve the correct wash temperature by mixing the fill. The valves do go faulty – 425320 is the proportional cold valve, 425324 is the hot one. I regret I cannot advise you with prices – I am half a world away.

They all point to a motor control problem caused by the electronic board.
