It’s heater related. Heater, wiring and electronics are all possible suspects. Tricky one to diagnose; pro help might be our best course of action – check repairs@ or Directories for a UKW repairer in your area.
Power off if carrying out any inspection yourself.

If I am to believe the manual, you have two problems.
1) Hot and Cold flashing is basically insufficient water supply – not filling fast enough.
2) The rinse light flashing suggests that the load is out of balance. The two together is rather unlikely, so your best bet is to run the diagnostics and see what you get, then report back.

Hi,
The spin thing is important – you’re just not getting anything extra – the clothes are no drier at 1600 than 1200. Honest. In the UK, we are quite aware that BSH products come from Spain or Germany. The Spanish product is badged “Made in EU”. The German product has the standard “Made in EU” label, but will have extra stickers stuck on it saying “Made in Germany”. This, apparently, is advertising in order to avoid the EU manufacturing regulations 🙄 . Well, you figure it out.
When you get down to it, you get what you are prepared to pay for, and we do appreciate that you pay rather more in Scandinavia – in fact we have one legendary poster from Finland who paid the equivalent of £550 for a Candy washer which sells for under £300 over here. I and the rest of the moderators still have nightmares about it 😀 .
Blomberg in the UK is a brand name used by Comet (big national retailer). The machines are made in Germany by Brandt, the French manufacturer. They are a good quality appliance, however spares in the UK are a nightmare – Comet are a leading member of the Not Very Good Club of Great Britain with regards to spares (and pricing) and Brandt’s UK operation is no better.
Miele is still a family business that sticks by its own values – quality.
Can’t really tell you much more, hope that’s of some use.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Recommendation
Here we have a little conundrum. Hotpoint have been into cooking for years. Until they took over Creda, they bought badged appliances from SMEG. Shortly after the merger, we saw Hotpoint cooking appliances which were the familiar Creda product with the Hotpoint badge on. Fair enough, all now one company.
The irony with the current Belling product is that since they went bust and stopped manufacturing, most product now comes from…….. Hotpoint! Confused? I am, and I’m a professional 🙁 .
So, what to do? It is becoming harder to source “original” Belling spares now – there are plenty of pattern functional spares around, but the cosmetics are now virtually obsolete. If your current appliance is becoming cosmetically challenged, there is little you can do.
Given the budget, there’s a few things to look at. Tricity (now Zanussi) and Whirlpool are perfectly adequate, Creda is still available bearing in mind the above comments.
The simple truth is that you get what you pay for. There are plenty of cheap brands around, and they are just that. Consider SMEG, Bosch – Gornje is quite new but decent.
Bit of food for thought; others will no doubt post other opinions.

ParticipantRe: Hoover HSW 150M overheating
Do not mistake the thermostat (no button) for the cut-outs (reset button). When you say that it’s all been stripped, have you removed and cleaned out the small black hose at the bottom of the condenser blower housing? It’s insignificant to look at, but crucial to the machine’s operation.
I cover North and West Leeds if you do need help.

ParticipantRe: Purchase advice?
Get a few facts straight here. There is a myth about spin speed. Once you get to 1200 rpm, there is no advantage at all in going faster. All that happens is that you are stressing the machines major components (bearings, motor, electronics, suspension) for absolutely minimal gain. So, this significantly increases the range of appliances available to your budget.
I would suggest that in the “better” product range you check out Bosch (as you have observed), your own Asko product (it hasn’t all gone to Italy yet) and the class of the field – Miele. Expensive, but Mercedes Benz quality and you can leave it for your children to inherit.
Dryers are a bit of a conundrum – they are perceived as low value products in the UK, so many people buy cheap and dispose of regularly if the repair bill is a bit expensive. Again Bosch is a sensible mid-range choice – maybe spend the money you save on the fantastic spin washer for an upmarket dryer? Miele again is a good choice. The Volvo of the laundry world perhaps!
Hope that helps,

Not on this one. That’s the standard old Bosch dishwasher fault.

ParticipantRe: Ariston A1635
If you tipped the machine on its side when the water was still in, it is possible that water has made its way into the pressure switch itself. Disconnecting and a damn good shake will confirm. Under no circumstances twiddle the adjusting screws – you’ll never get them set correctly.
Power off of course.

The front piece which you have removed is the filter. Have you checked right back into the impellor chamber? Hands knees and torch is the best way. Check that the impellor “pings” round whilst your down there – it should resist, then ping round. If it’s stiff it will need to be replaced. It’s in the shop@ part of UKW.

ParticipantRe: AEG 4040 leaking into tray
It sounds like the water matrix on the left hand side of the machine is blocked and water is backing up and dribbling into the tray. By a torturous series of parts supercessions the part number is 1118139-00/3. I would suggest removing the left hand side panel to observe properly.
