Martins diagnosis of the board fault will be 99.9{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} correct. Check track side of board for dry/burnt out joints around the relays – you may just hit lucky.

Sorry for confusion, all the info was there, but it was late and I was rather tired.

    Re: LG WM1465 Bearing problems

There should be near as spit no free play at all on the drum. You need to check for fit of bearings into tub housing (interference fit), also condition of shaft. Any sort of grooving where the front bearing sits on it renders it scrap. Also, consider how the machine drains. If it’s couple to the sink, this can drastically reduce the water flow rate. If the water cannot get away quickly as it picks up to spin, this will lead to rapid bearing wear. Check filter and bottom hoses, same applies.

LG is a generally decent brand – consider how much to get a replacement of similar quality, and fixing it properly would make sense.

That’s the out of balance switch failure fault. Check for corrosion, dodgy wiring and free movement. Can conceivably be electronics. There are a few posts about this in the forum.

The ice builds up over time Jim, so keep an eye on things for the next fortnight say. If the ice starts building up again it will be indicative of deeper problems – then I’m afraid you will need the pros.

The trade is desparately short of engineers in all fields, so if you do fancy a career change contact site admin for some pointers.

    Re: hoover wdm130-01 not heating

Slightly confused here Roy. Your heading says “Not heating”, yet your (very thorough) testing says that the machine will complete the 60c wash?

Perhaps you could expand a bit more? Is it one specific temperature that doesn’t function? That would indicate a board failure.

Reading back through the thread I think you’ll find that you are out of luck. Dave is away at the moment – he’ll be able to advise you more accurately when he gets back.

Re: Just fried my Brandt/Blomberg Washing machine

Last picture shows heat damage in the area of the triac (the component attached to the heat sink). I think you need to have a look at the other side of the PCB – I suspect that you will find some blown tracks. The triac will be either to operate the heater or the motor – therefore these will be the components to investigate further.

    Re: Oven always on

    You’re having a day of it, aren’t you? 😀

This problem sounds like an earth fault – most likely the fan oven element. You will need either a Megger or pro help to check for sure.

Check Directories or repairs@ for an engineer in your area.

Power off if you’re going to investigate further :plug: .

Bosh represents excellent value for money, when compared with some of the cheap tat around at the moment. The best is probably Miele – you’ll only ever need to buy one 😀 . But, you pay…
