These machines were so-and-sos for breaking wiring, notably to the fan motor. Fan motor stops, machine over heats, safety stat trips on heater box.

Power off if checking for this please.

Yersss – read it all again, and you’re all saying 12 month guarantee on spares, seemingly regardless of function. I can’t agree for the reasons outlined above.

Sorry chaps, long day fixing……. Not much I can add really – excellent job everybody.

No-one has touched on 5.1 – 12 mth g/t on all spares – I don’t guarantee Hotpoint group t/d stat kits under any circumstances, especially as the safety stat is designed to fail. I had some idiot students last year who got through 5 sets through incompetence.

Perhaps “with the exception of single use safety devices” on the end?

    Cheers,
    Chris.

    Re: Replacing a Homark SE4400

We have had this one a few times recently. Much as I’m reluctant to send anyone off site for spares, the motor is available here:

    http://www.appliance-parts.co.uk/shop/s … 222b954985

    at a moderately sensible price.

It is a unique product and there is no “like for like” replacement, so repair is still the best option.

Not actually all that expensive. P/no is 1524238-62/1 – about £55 from memory. An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get things moving for you.

Re: Smeg DWI45 slim line dishwasher

Typical heater readings are 20-30 ohms. The safety stat will only “click” if it needs to be reset. There are any number of other reasons why the appliance will not heat – computer board failure is the worst, water level problems, wiring through the door…… lots of things.

If your stat doesn’t “click” and the heater is sound, it may well be time for a bit of pro help.

Power off it you are going to refit and test.

If there is a fault, you should get flashing lights across the wash progress part of the control panel. If you could get a note of which ones are lit (it’s a binary code from right to left), we may be able to advise further. Initial thoughts are a problem with the water level control switch.

Probably the forward/reverse relay Simon. Reinforce the joint with some single strand wire and resolder. Should be OK…….. Failing that EMW do them at a very reasonable rate.

    Re: Rangemaster 110 Fan element

Remove inner rear panel of oven cavity to reveal the element. If you can see screwheads, you fit the element from the front. If you see hex heads, the element will be retained by nuts from the rear.

As you have said, power off……….

Check the fit of the rubber cap at floor level at the back. Failing that you will have a fluff blockage in the base assembly somewhere – major demolition time.

Power off if you have to go inside.

Re: Bosch WFF 2001 not pumping out properly

Find where the drain hose is coupled to the rear panel of the machine. With the lid and rear panel removed, the reservoir can be wiggled upwards (you can see the four lugs on the back panel) until it releases. Repeated forward and back flushing, combined with violent shaking will produce a surprising amount of crud.

    Power off, please.
