Dean,
You are describing a no circulation fault as far as I can tell – E3 is no heat and the safety may well have tripped. If the there is no water circulation this is guaranteed as the water splashing down is what takes the heat off the element. The other possibility is the famous underfilling problem which afflicts these machines, again insufficient water to take the heat off the elements will cause the safety to trip.Check “Diplomat” “SMEG” and “E2” in the search mode at the top of the forum – you’ll find out loads more.
Power off if going in please.

Ah, the table top job. Pull the plug, gently tip the machine back to about 25 degrees and mop up the water which runs out of the base. Next, check that the locking ring around the neck of the salt container cap (not the cap itself) is absolutely tight – they are so and soes for leaks in that area.
If it does it again, get some pro help – check Directories or Repairs@ for an engineer in your area.
Ensure plug is pulled before doing anything……….

Well done, Vince – we got there. You’ve pretty well given the machine a full service at the same time, so yes, 18 years – well, maybe 😀 .
I should point out that as a professional repairer I struggle with the Bosch website and will generally use it to identify parts before ringing in – the girls in the Office are knowledgable and helpful and appreciate people ringing with part numbers. Also, I find out how much I’m paying at the time…….
With this site there is nothing hidden, if you choose to order through spares@ you get an all-in total.
Best wishes, speak to you again in 18 years,

Ken put up a post a while back and called the Logics and the 95s a “cash cow”, which is absolutely spot on. The machines were cheap and cheerful, the parts were cheap and freely available and they were pretty straightforward to work on. The issue of the under-engineered drums on the Hotpoints, the awful awful AWFUL suspension system on the Hoovers, the clagging water level controls, wiper contacts in the Hotpoint control systems instead of AMP tags are all gradually being forgotten as we start to look back at these machines almost in retrospect.
Mrs Jenkins circumstances are typical of where one of these applainces can shine. A lady on her own doing two loads a week at most, the machine subtlely tweaked by yours truly to be the best it can be, I won’t see it for a few years.
Personally, I’d still have sold her a rebuilt Bosch given the choice, but what can you do?
Cheers,

The only one I can get to come up is SGS5338GB/12 – FD7809->
Shows PCB as 264877.

Have re-read the thread, the key is that you have had the brushes replaced. I assume that the motor had stopped at that time, prompting this work. Unfortunately the last few loads would have had the motor struggling to get good contact into the armature, which would have got very hot as a result and may have “cooked” it. If the initial damage is only slight the motor may well run on for a while, but each ramp into spin will be gradually increasing the damage.
Anyway, motor is p/no C00046533. Dave_Conway will be able to give you a price on it, and you can weigh up what to do from there.

Thermistor is on top of heater box. It should give a reading in kohms when tested with a meter. Also check wires to it as they have a habit of breaking internally.
If all ok likely to be computer board fault, likely cost in excess of £80 plus VAT. Will need full model number and preferably serial number to identify exactly which one is required.

Be very careful of that diagnosis Colin. Motor refusing to run under load is a classic armature failure sympton. Second opinion required I think.

He’s 24 and a right ugly specimen. Personally I find his enthusiasm quite refreshing – he asks because he wants to know, and sometimes he answers to show that he knows things. I suspect that he is perfectly aware that he is posting to a group of cynical grumpy old codgers like us, and sometimes tries just a bit too hard.
If you want his mugshot, eMail me – Dave’s had a peek.

No cold water supply – check that the little blue tab has actually turned the water on and not just revolved on the tap.

Have you checked the cold water solenoid coil Gord? Should give a reading of 3-4k ohms.
Power off first………

7 flashes is[b] heater related, but at the computer board end, so he may well be on the right track there. 5 is linked to the water level control system – the level switch may not be working correctly, or the pipework blocked.
Power off if you are investigating further.
