Re: Hotpoint – Change the bearings.

    Cheny,
If this machine is under 5 years old, contact Hotpoint. They will come and replace the drum unit for you for £90. To be honest, you will nit be able to buy the neccessary parts for that sort of money.

    Hi Alexis,
I take “lucky” isn’t your middle name then? The fault you are describing is not draining out in the specified time. This may be caused by the machine not draining, it may also THINK it hasn’t emptied, despite the water having gone. This will be a blockage in the water level control sysytem, or the associated tubes under the machine.

Pull the plug before going in………

    Rog,
As described in other posts in this forum, the fault will almost certainly be a dry joint on the computer board. You can double check this by setting the machine to the quickwash programme – it will almost certainly complete, as this programme runs against time and does not “hold for heat” as the others do.

Do nothing internally without pulling the plug first.

Re: Bosch 6312 Dishwasher: No Heat

I beg to differ Boschman, a reinforced, soldered joint will last indefinitely. This is surely how the joint should have been made in the first place and what we should expect from a company with the reputation for quality such as Bosch!

As you are obviously in the trade, please do us the courtesy of becoming a member – you will then be able to contribute fully to UKW.

Re: Indesit Dishwashers and their Problems

    Hi Mel,
I don’t know how they position Indesit in your market, but in the UK they are percieved to be in the “cheap and cheerful” bracket. By aquisition the Merloni group has risen to become a top 4 world manufacturer, and now call themselves Indesit. Regrettably this growth has done nothing to improve the quality of the groups products and in many cases has denigrated the quality of existing brands. Hotpoint, for instance, produced Bosch dishwashers under licence for years and very good they were too. Now, they are re-branded Indesit machines, and seeing as this is a Public Forum, let’s be diplomatic and say that they are problematical!

I take it that yours has had a new heater (unlucky to be fair) and now has filling/flooding problems? An almost endemic problem in the UK, a result of poor design – the water-level control works on an almost hair-trigger basis between working and flooding (or not filling at all).

Value for money in Europe, you can’t beat Bosch appliances in my opinion. I don’t know how well the brand is promoted in Oz or much about the local competition, but sufficed to say – almost anything is better quality than Indesit!

    Good luck and regards,
    Penguin45.

Curious, tech info says that the fault should reset automatically if the float switch drops back down, ie the water disappears. For undertray read the very lowest part of the machine, not the cavity where the crockery goes.

    Gary,
The message means that the “Aqua sytem” has been activated – this can be as simple as water in the tray under the washer, or drain pump out of circuit/blown.

    Pull the plug first :plug:

Re: My Whirlpool DWF 417 and its annoying flashing lights!

Picked a good one here, Ed.
This is a Bosch machine, badged as a Whirlpool and sold as a special to Ikea.

The undertray of your appliance has almost certainly flooded and operated the float switch. With the power off, drain the undertray and things should pick up again. However, you need to find the source of the leak in order to avoid a recurrence.

    Safety first – :plug:

Re: Homark oven door won’t close

It’s a Brandt built oven, so hinges should be 75×121901. Not sure about price. If you contact spares@ukwhitegoods.com with the part number they will be able to sort out prices and ordering.

Fitting is a screwdriver job and involves splitting the door.

There’s only one Smeg listed Si, ELE800. It’s the one with two mounting studs. Whether that’s the one you want or not I can’t be sure.

    Cheers,

It’s in the control panel, directly behind the buttons. Be very careful of the edge of the inner door when you split it, you can shave with it!

    Re: Whirlpool ADP4500 dead

    Alex,
My suspicion from the fault you have described would be the computer board – it sounds like it’s power supply has failed. It’s around £70 from memory, so might be worth getting some pro help to avoid a mis-diagnosis.

The on/off switch is a non-latching one, so the fault will almost certainly be the relay board. Check for dry solder joints, if nothing is visible you can safely assume that the relay is at fault.

Contact spares@ukwhitegoods.com wth the part number to sort out price and ordering.
