One is the control thermostat, the other is a one-shot thermal safety device. The stat kits are available in Shop@.

The concave one is the safety and it has tripped.

This is a Merloni built machine; if you can let Jesse know whether it is a washer or a washer dryer AND whether there is a vent hole in the bottom of the gasket (Lift the pleat in the seal at the six o’clock position and see if there’s a hole or not) we should be able to supply you.

To be fair Ben, if R600a has got a few elements left, I’d grab one of each and get a bit more out of it – they’re quite reasonably well made machines and it’s a lot less hassle than the shopping trip!

It’s pretty well covered in the topic Gary – time to exert your consumer rights and claim your board I suspect. Dave Conway is on holiday at the moment so we can’t send you the tech bumf, but as you have ascertained that the valve is OK, there isn’t much to argue about.

    Luck and regards,

    Wreckit,
I have no wish to be rude to you, and I applaud your audacity in asking your question to the remains of the UK gas industry, but, why do you think that anyone is going to tell you?

Given that our whitegoods industry has been greatly reduced by the competion from initially Italy, then Mid Europe and finally the Far East, what we see here is (across the board) the research and development costs are borne by us in the UK, the production optimisation happens in Europe and hurts us some years later, (to be expected, to be fair) and now a complete stranger walks in here and says “Can we buy it, so as we can compete?”

At one level, my personal thoughts are that you’ve got a damn nerve to just ask, but hey, what the hell? I suspect that the biggest single overhead that’ll you’ll have is to ship the stuff to the UK. No doubt, as with the last effort, there’ll be no spares and no emplaced service network, so once again we’ll have disillusioned customers, until money is put into a support network which the purchase price of the appliance won’t justify. That’ll finish up as the biggest cost in the end.

    Good luck,
    Chris.

    Ben,
Atlant are out of business. Your options are to find an approximate match for the existing element by removing it and taking to your local spares supplier (or getting your repairer to do it); or replacing the oven.

Given the reasonable cost of ovens, this is a better bet long term.

Do nothing youself without pulling the pug first.

    Pete,
As we suspected, the heater is fine – the fault is almost certainly a burnt out joint on the computer board at the heater relay. If you know how to use a soldering iron, you can sort this out – check back through the forum and there is an explanation of what is involved.

    Pull the plug first……..

    Re: Bosch SG13300GB/01

    Peter,
There should be a small removable cover over the drain pump in the sump of the machine (needs a Torx20 bit to undo), this will let you check for blockages and for drain pump action. If this does not solve the problem, the water matrix under the left hand side panel of the machine is probably blocked in some way – best get some help at this point!

    Good spot Kirk,
This one of those on going “backburner “projects which will hopefully lead to a big splash at some point. You think that’s bad – Bosch are selling a badged Whirlpool dryer at the moment – you can by the element for £20, its £103 from Bosch 😯 . And, there’s plenty more!

Post ’em as you find ’em!

Latch-over locking rings? 90o internal circlip pliers will do it. Make sure the ring is fully round before refitting.
