Good news Simon 😀 – order 155314 – knob outer, about £3.50. Remove the damaged lugs on the knob inner and Snap! Jobs a good ‘un.

Martin will now go ape over the years he’s had to buy console panels…….. :rotfl:

Nicely done Sean, thanks. Been out most of the day so sorry I haven’t contributed.

As a defacto member of the initial AC, my opinion is that kheath should put them on his head and wear them. As usual………

Cooling fan will be jammed or failed, this allows the safety thermostat behind the programmer to cut in and shut it all down.

    Re: Dying Trade

We all help out where we can, but check the conditions of your Public Liability Insurance VERY carefully – mine is very specific about what I can and can’t do. Basically, I’m covered from the taps and plug on….

I am not covered for sockets, drains, plumbing etc.

You would be best servedd to seek out specialist service areas – rented accomodation is ours; but also pubs, housing associations and the like. Print up a sheet with a few sample prices on and drop it off with some business cards to any likely looking agency as you potter round. That’s what we did 14 years ago and it’s still paying dividends now.

    Chris

    Hi Wayne,
I suspect that you may be receiving mail from Mr Conway in (our) morning………. It may be a case of resetting the system – I don’t have the technical information on these ones I’m afraid. A case of go for the obvious first.

    Patience and more will follow!

    Cheers for now,

With no disrespect to the poster, this does not make any sense at all. Please follow kheath’s advice and get some professional help – this is almost certainly a system fault and is NOT solvable without specialist diagnostic and repair equipment.

If you’ve got the time and the patience, almost all relays (contactors?) are available through Radio Spares. The Bosch washer/Whirlpool dishwasher heater relay is available for c.£8 as a for instance. The other thing to bear in mind is “What does the relay do?”. Is it single pole or double? What rating does it have? A bit of thought and some lateral thinking can solve a lot of these at a fraction of manufacturers prices.

Something to have a think about……..

Can we clarify this for the uninitiated? DSG support their own service network? Presumably they have some sort of back up system if I read the posts correctly – if you can’t get the job in 2 days it’s going to get passed on? They have some sort of second level support or are they factoring the reserve service out? Is this where CDSL come in?

    Slightly puzzled,
    Chris.

Time-out fault for drain out IIRC. Check all filters, drain coupling etc. May be fault in water level control system.

Do nothing without pulling plug first.

    Jimmy,
You need heater p/no C00086661 – aboot £15 from memory, plus the VAT. It will no doubt magically appear in Shop@ shortly….

In answer to your other point, yes – strange things can, do and will happen on these machines when the heater goes wonky. If I may suggest, the water level is so low that a 40c wash may not even be detected by putting your hand on the glass during the wash cycle. As the heater on this on has a TOC built into the terminal end, it will almost certainly have been banged when the crosspiece was extracted for the bearing job. They’re fragile things. I’ve done it and I’m a professional!

Bit steep that, isn’t it? QER have them as refurbished units for around the £40 mark. Contact http://www.qer.biz or 01900-67913 (no, there isn’t a digit missing) with the number on the timer.

    Cheers,
    Chris.
